It was very rare that Bethany spent time in the common room. She was often found in the library or down by the lake with friends and she also spent a fair amount of time in the Faerie Woodland with her mother. The faeries were still taken aback about the attack on the school during the midsummer masquerade and most of them stayed in the woodland and never ventured any farther. Bethany thought it was a shame that none of them would ever go anywhere except that one habitat. They were missing out on such beautiful scenery that existed all around the Castle and further out in the world itself.

Today, Bethany was going to spend some time by herself just to relax. Being a sixth year, it was pretty hard going between classes and studying for exams, as well as keeping up with her social life. Not that she really had much of one. She had lost a fair amount of friends in the attack and sometimes she longed for their company but she had gone through the grieving process way too many times and this time she wasn't allowing herself to wallow in her self-pity. Instead, she collapsed backwards into one of the chairs and opened a book.

It had been a long time since she had read for pleasure and she didn't know if she would enjoy reading since she had done far too much of it. She opened the book to the Introduction and was bored within an instant so she threw the book on the floor and tossed her long golden hair back over the chair and watched the flames in the Common Room fire dance around for a while. Her neck got sore from holding that position, so she fixed herself onto the chair properly where she could sit and stare intently into the fire, without really doing, thinking or feeling anything. She did have to wonder though, where any of her Hufflepuff friends still alive and where were they now?
