“Believe it or not I used to be able to block out anyone from reading my thoughts before. I guess that is just one think I lost with my new life.” Janet said as he had apologized for being able to hear thoughts. It was nice though, strange even because Janet had such a hard time accepting that creatures, could be human too. That however has been a long process of acceptance, and Matt was actually helping that for sure.
While she often got herself trying to block her mind of thinking of the next attack, the thoughts of how strange a friendship this really could be where not as pressing of a thing. Perhaps it was that life or death matter that made her so good at it? Whatever the case after her second accident she seemed to have regressed in her magical studies. She was gaining them back in time though, getting back into her earth mage training was just another step in the process.
Janet managed a small grin to his comment. Yes it was a bit harder, and perhaps she made it that way. She was getting there, but not completely there yet.
Then he made a comment, she looked at the girls, a slight feeling of sadness. That flightily simplicity was once thing she never really had. Her mind not really on what he had said but on what she had missed out in her youth by doing what she had. Now that was what was sad.
“What? Oh, I am sorry.” She said clearly lost in her own mental frame for the moment. Catching up with the conversation she said, “Not really, does give you an advantage.” She said not sure how else to put it, after all that was one thing she never could do, plain and simple.

"That's cool." Matt said. He wished he couldn't read people's minds. "My parents kind of taught me how to control some of my...abilities. It came in handy when I went to school." He said shrugging. He never used them in class, the teachers would probably find out anyway. But he was intrigued by Janet's remark. "What other things could you do?" He asked, although a bit hestitantly. Matt could understand if she didn't want to tell him.
The one power he actually enjoyed was when he was in wolf form, he could smell other's emotions. It was kind of cool. And he could communicate through thoughts as well. That came in handy too sometimes. Maybe being a lycan wasn't all that bad. But it still felt wrong to just dive into people's thoughts. But he didn't have to, he didn't have to know if someone was going to attack him, since he didn't live in the forest anymore. There was no real threat here.
"It's fine." Matt said smiling. He often got lost in his own thoughts. That's where he was most of the time. All he could do was shrug. "I do have to admit, being able to communicate through thoughts does come in handy sometimes." He admitted.

Janet never really thought about how it would work in classes. Then again in the past she had been so hell bent on riding the world of such people that it did not really matter. It is a good thing that her perspective had change though, that dark and twisted girl was becoming a real person. When he asked about her other abilities, that she somehow lost she was not sure what to say. Perhaps it was all a mental block that kept her from being that super woman again, not that she was really super at all.
“Well I could tell what creature someone was within a minute of being near them. And had super fast reflexes, believe it or not I focused mostly on defensive spells. I guess that was just another thing in my head that twisted me to thinking it was okay.” She said to him. The idea of only defending oneself as a good cover, but that was al it would be as she was paid to hunt and kill many. It made her feel sick to think about it. Like it was not really her that had done all those things.
Silently she pondered her abilities she simply did not use being a metamorphmagus was sometimes a huge deal in the magical world. However the most she did was change her natural blond locks to brown. Then studying to be an earth mage was lacking and not all that promising. “I guess all my magic has been off. Still coming to grips with my choices I guess.” She said instead of divulging all her secrets.
“It is strange sometimes. But I guess you just get used to it, after all two years ago we would not be talking like this.” She did not want to sound mean, but it was true. Just a statement that showed how much she had changed, and was getting better all the time.

"I bet that came in handy too." He said. Even if she had used it for not so good reasons, it did sound useful. Matt just listened to her, and wondered what had happened, what had made her transform into a better person, from the creature slayer she had been. But maybe he didn't want to know. But he was always curious about other people. He liked learning things, and had almost forgotten that.
And he wondered what had driven her to slay innocent creatures. If they were really innocent. He nodded his head. "Your powers don't sound...bad individually." And he added, silently, through thought, I'm glad you don't kill creatures anymore. I think that would have put a damper on our friendship. Matt chuckled. "And sorry to intrude, but somehow it didn't seem like an appropriate thing to say out loud." He added grinning.
He was really starting to feel comfortable around Janet. Which was weird for him. Normally he was shy, and reserved. "Yeah. I've found the best choices are the hardest to deal with." He spoke his thoughts aloud. The he nodded at her words. It was rather strange to think how one person could change that much, but he thought it was a good change. And then thought about himself, how he had changed. He hadn't really thought about it until now.

“Sometimes, but other times it just made things… hard. I had a hard time carrying much of a conversation once I knew, it was all just anger…” she said, though the feelings still existed she learned to deal and cope with it. While she still had a very hard time committing the idea that creatures were people too, each day she was getting better. After all, she had not thought of fighting the entire time they where sitting together, and even better she did not want to throw a dagger into his chest, which was a nagging feeling that often ensued.
“I guess.” She started then he added a though, it did make her feel a little uncomfortable, but she breathed a bit, even though he apologized it still was something she was not used to dealing with still. “Yes, that is true. Although I do still trample spiders, so they better still run.” She added trying to make a joke, not her forte…
“Yes, not easy. I have therapy five times a week, and that is progress.” She said admitting it was one thing, even though it was in her record as part of her continuing her education. After all it had been a long overdue time to finish. “At least everyone complains about a therapist, they are quite annoying.” She added, but she had to deal with it, having three different ones, and a lead made her a special case. After all she was legally insane for a while…
At that thought however she noticed that she was late. And Dr. Chaplen did not like that too much, he still saw her as deranged and wanted her locked up, but luckily in her case majority ruled in her favor. But he had ever reason to have her locked away. “Crap.” She said. “Sorry I should really be going. But I did enjoy this, it was … refreshing.” She said thinking of a right word. She stood up thinking about the best way to get to Mungo’s in the shortest time, without a lot if magic, because that was another thing the doctor did not like, she abuses the magical world… yes she snooped on her case, but who wouldn’t? Perhaps flying her broom? After all she was the quidditch captain and had a great track record for speed flying…
(sorry to end it like that, losing some muse for it, but I don't mind more threads! anytime)
