Juniper loved the nights sky, it was so vast and only viewable in the darkness. She was wearing dark blue robes buttoned closed she opened up the entrance to the top of the tower. She smiled looking around. She looked down as she climbed the latter. Once she reached the top star charts started coming up, like someone was pushing them up for Juniper to take them, but also no one else was there.
Few actually noticed how subtly Juniper used magic, but she used it all the time, and everyday. Growing up in Salem she learned that magic was a way of life, and even though it was hard to change it when she went to a muggle college she loved the learning experience. She had an upper hand when bullies thought they where smart, and they had not a clue what had happened.
That was the past; even if it was not that far from her present she looked back on it like it was a million years ago. It was Sunday still, just a few more minutes before it was really Monday. She started charting on her chart and all the other charts drew the same image. She started mapping the inner section of the stars. Then she finished only a few sections, labeling each she walked to the edge. A few minutes would allow her to have a great ride. It was an honor in Salem to be the person to ride the broom across the moon on Halloween, and she could imagine how exciting it must be back in her childhood home.
She jumped from the ledge, and was free falling for a few moments, having taken away the protective charm around the edge. It was exhilarating falling in the night, the wind blowing so strong on her skin. And in a moment a broom swept up from under her and she landed on it gracefully. She flew back to the top of the tower seeing her class already arriving.
“Good morn’ class. I hope that we are all awake and ready to learn about the sky.” She said landing on the tower, she held her broom and it shrunk into the size of a coin and she placed it in her pocket. “Today we will be learning more about the Wild Duck Cluster. It is fascinating and a real treat to see. E. E. Barnard called "The Gem of the Milky Way.” Does anyone know what E.E stands for?
She asked hoping that many of her students would know the answer.
