[[Fallon only, kthx]]
London. Hustling and bustling, as always. Everyone seemed so eager to get where they needed to be as quick as possible. Aeson found muggles somewhat amusing in their hurry, as he was never a victim to muggle forms of transportation. Being a wizard had it's advantages. Yet it also had its disadvantages, such as the ease in which a wizard could physically [and mentally] destroy others. Aeson didn't want to think about this fact; he was trying to calm himself down before visiting Fallon in St. Mungoes. He still wasn't even sure he wanted to visit her, could he handle seeing her roughed up? How bad was it going to impact him? Thank goodness Vivi wasn't coming with him.
Aeson wandered around aimlessly, trying to compose himself and find the courage to visit Mungoes. Mungoes didn't have pleasant memories for him, seeing how his father had ended up there many a time when Aeson was a kid. Just to be mundane, he wandered into a coffee shop and ordered a drink. Coffee calmed people's nerves right? Maybe not, but if he told himself it did would the placebo effect kick in?
Having had time to calm himself down, Aeson finally apparated across the street of Mungoes. The building was onerous but he continued to walk toward it. The second he stepped onto the property, however, he was overtaken by a vision, a flashback, if you will. He dropped his coffee cup and spilled its contents. His eyes went cloudy. His body went stiff.
***
"Night Daddy!" "Good night honey, don't let the goblins bite. Have good dreams, ok?" "Ok, you too!" The usual bedtime routine, nothing special. How did Aeson know he was going to break that promise in a short matter of time? He got into bed as usual and slowly started to drift into a deep sleep and started dreaming...
Cold sweat. Darkness. Then a dark figure, smirking. His evil intents were clear- he was to torment a blonde young woman. Fallon? Aeson panicked. He could hear footsteps, hushed dialogue that he couldn't make out. Suddenly, bright lights of magic shooting from wands. He could feel pain. Slashing. Unforgivable curses? More screaming. Blood? Fragments of a dark scene. Who was the man hurting his ex-girlfriend? Was it someone she knew?
Aeson jolted upright from his sleeping in intense pain. He gripped his arms around his midsection and wanted to scream, but no sound came out. He was hyperventilating. It seemed like an eternity before the pain stopped and he could open his eyes. He wiped some excess water from them and started to breathe deeply in an attempt to calm himself. When he was somewhat more composed, he looked to the space next to him on the bed and was shocked. Where is she? He remembered that they hadn't been sleeping in the same house, not to mention bedroom for awhile, but that didn't calm him. If she wasn't there, where was she? Was she really hurt? If not, was she going to be in the future? Hopefully it was all just a bad dream...
***
"Sir, are you OK?" Aeson gained consciousness to find himself being supported by a Mungoe's nurse. How embarrassing. "Oh, uh, yeah.. Sorry. This place just brings back memories..." He awkwardly tried to make it seem like his outburst was a normal thing and picked up his coffee cup. "Sorry about the mess..." He quickly walked-almost ran- into Mungoes to avoid further conversation.
He had been told ahead of time which floor Fallon was on and which room, but he wasn't sure he wanted to go see her yet. He stalled further by going to buy her a small "get well" bouquet at the hospital's gift shop before going up to her floor. Rather than barging in, he knocked on the door quietly. "Fallon? It's Aeson, can I come in?"

Flashes passed by her eyes and Fallon thrashed wildly, screaming loudly. Sitting bolt upright, she cried out loudly again and looked around the sterile, mostly white, hospital room. Her abdomen hurt severely. It burned.
Suddenly the door burst open and two nurses and a doctor came in and laid her back on the bed. They looked panicked. As her eyes traveled down she realized why. She had clearly torn her stitches as the hospital gown she wore was red instead of a powder blue.
One of the nurses took her arm and sedated her; before she knew it she was asleep again, but this time it was thankfully dreamless. Or perhaps the correct term was nightmareless. When she woke up the next time the room was quiet and the pain had stopped, but her head was still fuzzy.
A knock sounded on the door followed by a familiar voice, "Fallon? It's Aeson, can I come in?" Aeson? Why was he here? How did he know? Vivianne! Fallon went to sit up quickly again, but vaguely remembered how that had caused her stitches to tear before. She sat up slower this time and groaned as she found her muscles stiff. "C..." Her voice was hoarse. It hadn't been that long since she had used it, right? Maybe it was the meds. "Come in," she finally rasped, running her fingers through her hair and hoping she looked presentable.
Her blonde hair felt terrible to her touch. It was matted to her forehead and cheeks with sweat. Her face was warm to the touch and she feared her wound had become infected and she was now fighting a fever. Or maybe it was just from the previous nightmare. Feeling her face, she determined she had a bit of a gash on her forehead, but otherwise her face should look fine. Why she was worrying so much about how she looked for Aeson was beyond her comprehension.
As soon as Aeson was in the room she blurted out in a bit of a panic, "How's Vivianne? How's my little girl?"

The pause that ensued after Aeson knocked was unsettling. Was Fallon unconscious? Did he have the right room? Did she die? When he heard a forced, raspy noise it almost made him grimace. She sounds dreadful... At least she's alive... Hopefully she isn't maimed too bad... He hesitantly and cautiously opened the door.
She didn't look the best she ever had, but she appeared to be all bandaged up and the hospital gown she was wearing covered where her worst wounds would be. Before he could say anything, she frantically started asking about Vivianne. "She's good, she's fine, she's with my grandparents. They're taking her to a zoo today. She doesn't know you're hurt. I didn't want to scare her." He forced a weak smile, "But how are you? You look worse than you did during labor." Maybe if she got mad about that last comment it'd make their dialogue more mundane, it was worth a shot.
"I got you these though, thought they might cheer you up a bit until you can see Vivi. When you've healed a bit more and maybe gotten a sponge bath you won't be as scary and she won't get nightmares visiting you." He smiled. Hopefully she knew he was joking by now. He was tempted to go sit next to her but he wanted to make sure she wouldn't hit him first. "Did they say how long you're going to have to stay here for?"
He looked at her while he spoke. If his nightmare had been an accurate feeling, she had gone through a hell of a night. Considering all the pain she had been through, she looked pretty good. Only a couple visible scratches, a sickly pallor, and perhaps a fever. Not bad. Hopefully her stomach's healing nicely too... This could just be the tip of the iceberg that I'm seeing...

Her ex was insufferable. Honestly, sometimes she really hated him. Like right now she had an overwhelming urge to throttle him. How could he be so rude after what she'd been through? Perhaps he was unaware of just what had happened. Luckily for Aeson as soon as she got angry she was exhausted. The fight had taken so much out of her that she couldn't even stay angry. She was just too tired.
Sighing, she looked away from Aeson and let him ramble, but said nothing. Her eyelids drooped and she fought to stay awake as a wave of lethargy washed over her. They clearly had her strongly sedatedl she couldn't say she was surprised.
"I'm glad to hear she'd ok. Keep her that way, Aeson. Really, I'd prefer if she didn't go to the zoo or something. I don't..." How could she explain the fears she had? She was beyond terrified that the man who attacked her would go after Vivianne. If Collins so much as glanced at her daughter she would find a way to murder him painfully. "Nevermind, I'm being silly."
Fallon's eyes swept the room and landed on a pitcher of water just out of her reach. Motioning to it, she looked to Aeson, "Be a dear, would you?"
"They haven't told me how long I have to be here, but I assume a few more days. There seems to have been considerable damage because they couldn't use magic to heal me all at once. From what I gather they're using muggle techniques to hold me over because some of the potions they need to use to treat different issues I have don't mix right." Fallon shrugged as if it didn't matter much, but deep down she knew that meant it was pretty serious. She had a lot of injuries, mostly internal. "Even when I get out of here... I need you to keep Vivianne for a while longer. I don't know how safe my home will be. I don't know if Collins will attack again or what."
"Oh, Merlin. I'll have to alert the Ministry... this is becoming such a mess."

Failure. His joking only seemed to tire Fallon today. Then again, she looked extremely tired in general. Aeson was glad he didn't have to recover from the same injuries she did. Or was he? Thinking about it, he wasn't sure. If he could've taken the blows for Fallon, he probably would've. Even if she was his ex, he still cared about her, although he doubted she cared as much for him.
"What kind of father do you think I am? Of course I'll keep her safe." Fallon's paranoia would normally strike him as silly today made him uncomfortable. "No, I can see where you're coming from. You're just worried whoever did this to you will come back to hit you where it really hurts; I understand that." He paused. "You know I'd cast an Avada Kedavra if i had to to protect our family, right?" He regretted saying it as soon as the words left his lips. Maybe she'll be too groggy to care that I assimilated us as a family...
He was thankful when she asked for water. "Um, are you sure that's ok? I mean... your insides can handle it?" Was he being overprotective? Maybe. He reluctantly poured her half a glass. "If this messes up whatevers going on under your gown, you forced me, alright? I had to beg you not to make me, but you were too persuasive." He held the glass near her face. If he held it while she drank would he be being silly? Surely she wasn't THAT weak, right?
Aeson pursed his lips and frowned. Her treatment sounded extensive. He kept quiet as she spoke and waited a beat after she finished speaking to say, "Um... Yeah, of course I'll watch Vivi... When you're out of here, you'll be fine, right? Like, you won't be an amputee or have limited mobility?"
Collins? "You knew the guy? Did you see this coming? Do you know anything about him?" Aeson felt his throat get tight. Who was this Collins guy, and what motives did he have for hurting Fallon? If he wanted power, wouldn't he have gone directly for the Minister, not the deputy?
He tried to calm himself down. "Vivi's going to miss you. Even though I'm her favorite. Do you think you could visit us or do you think this scumbag will follow you?" He felt the primal need to protect his family kicking in. If he ever met this guy, or this guy even so much as dared to THINK about hurting Vivianne, Aeson would do his best to hunt him down and make sure he'd never be able to hurt anyone ever again. I'm starting to see how my father went crazy. Imagine that.

"You know I'd cast an Avada Kedavra if i had to to protect our family, right?"
Sometimes Fallon really loved Aeson. For all his idiocy and all the times he annoyed her, underneath it all he was a good guy. He was a great father. He might not have been the right guy for her with how little he supported her ambitions, but she was the right guy to have a kid with, regardless. "You do realize you can't say that to a Ministry official, right? The bit about casting an unforgivable, let alone the Killing Curse," despite her words though a small smile graced her lips.
When Aeson made a fuss about a glass of water she groaned, "Honestly, Aeson! Stop being so ridiculous and give me the damn glass!" She took the cup from him and downed it before holding it out for a refill. "It's water, my body is more than half water already. It's not going to do anything and if it would have they certainly wouldn't have left a pitcher in my room."
"I will not be disabled in any way. Or at least, I don't think so. From what I can tell I have all my fingers and toes. I just have extensive damage to my abdominal area and a few cuts and bruises elsewhere. Or well, I had some cuts and bruises elsewhere, those seem to be healed now. In fact, only the head trauma and the gash on my stomach seem to be serious issues at the moment." An amputee, really? Sometimes he was a bit odd.
"You knew the guy? Did you see this coming? Do you know anything about him?"
"Mm, well... No, I don't know him personally. You remember that attack on Hogwarts last summer? Everyone and their mother believes the Ministry knows nothing and hasn't been doing anything, but in fact, we know that Embry Collins orchestrated the whole affair. We also know that Embry Collins is not his real name, but we have yet to figure out what is. I know tidbits of information which I've been collecting with a small, trusted group within the Ministry. That's why it seems as if nothing is being done, we're investigating with few people because we don't know who could have been involved and we don't want to draw attention to the case. We don't want to warn Collins we're getting close to him." Though honestly, were they getting that close? What did she know exactly?
"Anyway, that's official business which I can't really discuss with you. I shouldn't have even told you the name we have, so please keep it to yourself, blabbermouth." She gave him a stern look, but her lips still held a tweak of a smile. "As for whether or not he will follow me, I haven't got a clue. I dare say if the attack on me was deliberate then he already knows where I live and you as well. If it was simply coincidence... if he would have attacked anyone who left that way then perhaps I should cease to worry. The thing is, I don't know."
"I suppose if he isn't following me it would be safe to visit, and if he knows where we live already then it couldn't hurt anything. I don't know. I might visit once, but I want to try and keep my distance just in case." It killed her to say it. The thought that she'd be away from her daughter for an extended period of time when she could be with her just destroyed her. Aeson might not think she was a devoted parent, but he was wrong. Her little girl was her world and probably the only reason she was alive right now, that maternal instinct that told her to keep living so she could watch her baby grow up....

"Oh. Right. How silly of me, I must've forgotten that was unforgivable." He smiled back. "Although I do believe I can recall a certain Ministry official threatening to kill me in a similar manner once upon a time..."
Aeson frowned when she had an outburst about water. "I was just being careful, Merlin, someone's cranky. You said they gave you muggle treatments, and if they stitched your digestive tract a la muggle, water might not be a good idea." She did have a point about leaving water in the room though. "Maybe they left it for visitors like me to put flowers in. Oh right." He put the bouquet he had gotten into the pitcher. "Now what? I think I win." She was probably used to his immature outbursts by now, if not, oh well, what could she do? Break up with him? They were already broken up, and since there was a kid involved she'd have to deal with him for years to come. Yes, it appeared he did win.
Head trauma? Maybe she'd get amnesia and he could totally mess with her mind and she wouldn't know it... "Maybe you'll have to eat lighter foods for awhile after you get out, just to be sure you don't bombard your poor lil tummy." I think I've been spending too much time with my daughter. No, I don't think that's possible.
"Who are you calling a blabbermouth, Ms. Minstress Says-it-all?" Hm. I could've come up with better names. Let's save "Mrs. Frey" for later. If she wants to kill me she might not be physically able to. MIGHT.
"That sucks. Hopefully you'll get a lead or something, or at least find out for sure if you were a target. Oh, by the way, when I don't tell my grandmother about this, should I not suggest heightened security measures, just in case Vivi might be a target?" Fallon would probably DEMAND higher security for her little baby if she was a known target, but at the moment it might not be a good idea. If he told his grandmother, and she in turn told other people, the chain of gossip could undermine the Ministry's investigation, whether it was progressing or not.
"If you don't get your butt in gear and make sure our family's safe by Vivi's birthday, she won't be a happy camper. I can just imagine it now... 'Why isn't my mommy hereeeeee I wanna show her my presentssss'." Aeson pursed his lips. "Maybe if you still hadn't found the guy or solved the crime or whatever term you'd like to use for owning the evil villain, we could celebrate anyway, just have an intimate family party with maybe a couple aurors hanging around, just in case."

"Hmph. It was a deserved threat..." Fallon muttered, casting a sideways glance at her ex-boyfriend. It was hard to believe she wanted to marry the man at one point... well, sometimes it was hard to believe.
As Aeson berated her and plopped the flowers into her pitcher of water her jaw slackened. "What do you think you're doing! That's a pitcher, not a vase! Flowers do not belong it in! You're absolutely useless sometimes, now I'll have to call the nurse for a new pitcher." Cranky? Um, yeah. Well she was attacked by a psychotic wizard and beaten pretty badly. She had every right to be cranky.
"Maybe you'll have to eat lighter foods for awhile after you get out, just to be sure you don't bombard your poor lil tummy."
Fallon snorted. "I think my 'lil tummy' will be just fine, thank you. And as far as I know only the gash on my stomach was closed using muggle means and it's only temporary. Do you forget that magic can fix near everything? Sometimes it just needs some time."
"Who are you calling a blabbermouth, Ms. Minstress Says-it-all?"
"Oh, please! I only told you something because you're you. You're my ex and as idiotic and useless as you are I trust you somewhat and you need to know a little something seeing as you are the father of my child whom I need you to look after and protect. If you were anyone else you wouldn't know a damn thing. The Ministry isn't even aware of the fact that I'm in St. Mungo's yet." Speaking of, she needed to contact them soon and explain a few things or at least notify them she wouldn't be coming in today.
"Oh, by the way, when I don't tell my grandmother about this, should I not suggest heightened security measures, just in case Vivi might be a target?"
Vivi... Fallon's heart clenched tightly. "You'll have to do the protection spells yourself for now. Once I'm out of here I'll add the spells I'm best at and the rest I will have Ministry spell casters perform. Your house will be better protected than the Ministry itself." She couldn't actually guarantee that, but she was pretty damn sure it would be. Only the safest place would do for her little girl, nobody was going to hurt her.
As Aeson mentioned Vivianne's birthday her stone facade slipped and finally fell away. She started sobbing outright at the thought of missing her daughter's birthday. This was a huge mess! She didn't regret being the Deputy Ministress, but she regretted not being able to stop Embry Collins when she had the chance. She set his robes on fire and ran away! She could have killed him or at least injured him. She could have incapacitated him. Instead she ran away like a coward!
She was a disgrace and that thought drew further tears from her. Maybe she didn't deserve her position. Such a coward couldn't possibly deserve Ministress of Magic for sure. She was a failure and a coward and useless. What kind of example did she set for her daughter? Aeson must be getting a good laugh at this, Fallon running away like a baby. The big bad Slytherin girl who had to always be in control turned tail and ran away. Oh no doubt he found it hilarious and it just made her want to cry more, which was one thing she promised she'd never do in front of Aeson.
Well there went that promise out the window.

Emotional roller coaster time!
"Well you would've needed to call them to get you a vase anyway." Why didn't they sell bouquets in vases at the gift shop? How insensitive of them. "Well, pardon me, pureblood. It's not my fault I'm not as acquainted with magical medicine as you are. And I figured it was a matter of time, thats why I said, 'awhile.' Duh." They fought about the stupidest things. Aeson was willing to bet they could get into a heated argument about if Vivianne learned how to tie her right shoe or her left shoe first. How ridiculous. It was her right shoe...
Fallon tended not to realize when Aeson was joking. Or maybe she did and she just liked yelling at him. Either way, she got mad a lot. "You could've told me a lie. Just saying." He probably wouldn't have believed her if she had, but he would've pretended he did for the sake of peace. That is, unless it was horribly horribly obvious it was a blatant lie that didn't tell him anything. "Want me to get you an owl so you can let the Ministry know, or would that not be necessary seeing how I'm incapable of everything except giving you my chromosomes?"
Aeson sighed and passed his fingers through his hair. He hadn't meant to, but he'd made Fallon cry. He sank next to her on the hospital bed, not caring that he was in a position to fall off of the edge at any moment. He wrapped an arm around her to comfort her. She could snap and try to beat him up, but he didn't care. She knew as well as he did that she needed comforting now. "Hey." Aeson spoke softly. "You're going to sort this out before Vivi's birthday. You're amazing at your job, and if anyone can catch the freak that did this to you, its you. He just caught you unprepared is all. Once you're out of here you'll probably get him in like a matter of days." He wiped a tear from her face. She was rarely so vulnerable. On a normal day, he might think of devious ways to kick her while she was down, but under these circumstances he wouldn't dare.
He gently tilted her face toward him. "Look, you can beat yourself up all you want, but you know sulking won't solve anything. You have to be strong to beat the bad guy. You have to be strong to be Vivi's super mommy that she grew to love so much. You have to be strong so that you can be that powerful, assertive, beautiful girl who can do whatever she wants. The same girl I grew to love." Woah, woah, woah. He had clearly said too much. She knew that he had loved her, but his phrasing made it sound like he still did. He couldn't say he loved her still--they were broken up. He was just the immature kid that was raising her kid- he wasn't allowed to even hint that someone like Fallon would even have the time to give him the time of day. He could just get up and leave, but he didn't want to leave her in her vulnerable state. He'd wait till she kicked him out, which would inevitably be soon.
Aeson averted his gaze from Fallon and his eyes darted aimlessly around the room as he continued to speak. "So... uh... I'm not sure if you remember me telling you about it, but when I was little, my grandma would always take me here to visit my dad. When he wasn't in Azkaban, that is... But yeah, this place doesn't bring back pleasant memories... I think it'd be better if Vivianne didn't come here. You'll be better soon, you can come visit her when you're healthier. This weird attacker guy won't be around much longer once you're back at work..." Drifting back to Fallon's work. Perhaps he was getting safe.
"Speaking of work, uh, do you want me to get you an owl or to personally deliver the message that you've been attacked or anything? I mean, its the least I can do for wasting your time."

Ugh. Sometimes he would fight her on the stupidest things! And had he really just used pureblood as an insult? Her eyes narrowed as she glared at him, her usually plump lips thinned down to a line, "Aeson Frey, don't you dare bring blood into this! I've never once used your mixed blood as an insult and you've been raised by one seriously devout magical grandmother not to mention you teach at a magical school! So you should well know about magical medicine by now." She didn't want to fight him on this, but he was being stupid, so she would.
"I couldn't have lied to you. I wouldn't lie to you," Fallon muttered under her breath, not looking at Aeson. Despite everything they'd been through she just wouldn't lie to him. Not about something important anyway. "Want me to get you an owl so you can let the Ministry know, or would that not be necessary seeing how I'm incapable of everything except giving you my chromosomes?" She grit her teeth and wanted to insult him about that too, but she couldn't. That would definitely be a lie and he'd see right through it. He gave her Vivi, the light of her life, so clearly he had to be good at that. Or Fallon just made up for his shortcomings.
Thankfully he changed his tune once she was crying. The laughing and the teasing she expected didn't happen. Instead he took her completely by surprise, "You have to be strong to be Vivi's super mommy that she grew to love so much. You have to be strong so that you can be that powerful, assertive, beautiful girl who can do whatever she wants. The same girl I grew to love." Part of her wanted to scream that she was only human and she couldn't do everything, but another part of her was so confused and yet so touched by his words that she very nearly pulled him down to kiss him. Almost. Thank Merlin she got her wits about her just in time. That could lead nowhere good. She was simply overly emotional, it wasn't like she would normally care if Aeson said he loved her in present tense.
Normally she'd laugh it off and tell him he was an idiot and to stop bothering her. Because he was an idiot... and she didn't want to kiss him - really.
He changed the topic again and she felt a little relieved. He rambled about bad memories with hospitals and she nodded absently. "I agree, I'd rather she not come to visit me here even though I miss the little monster terribly." A heavy sigh passed her lips as she dropped her head back onto her pillow and stared at the ceiling. When Aeson repeated his earlier question about the owl to the Ministry, minus the snide remark, she waved her hand nonchalantly. "No, that's quite alright. I'll wait a little longer and then use a more secure method. There's nothing wrong with owls, I just... I don't want to take any chances."
"And it's unlikely I will catch the man who did this to me. The Ministry has been at this for over a year, I've been at this for over a year, and the one chance I had I ruined." She didn't like admitting errors, especially to Aeson, but she had said it before she thought. It had to be the pain potions making her loopy. Reaching over she pushed the call button for the nurse and let her eyes lazily trace over Aeson. She was tired and she was massively disappointed in herself. She was no super mommy, she was nothing special. She was a coward. Aeson's words were sweet, but way off mark.
"If Vivi asks for me or about me, tell her I had to go on an emergency trip overseas, alright? I don't want her to know I'm hurt, it'll only worry her. She's five, she doesn't need to be worried." Unable to resist any longer she reached over and pulled Aeson down, planting a small kiss on his cheek. Nothing serious for normal people, but Fallon usually wanted as much distance from her ex as possible. Clearly the medicine was definitely getting to her, that was the only logical explanation, because she certainly didn't still care for Aeson or love him. Definitely not...

The air in the room was starting to thicken with frazzled emotions. Fallon was transitioning from emotion to emotion so quickly Aeson wasn't sure how to respond. Did he see desire in her eyes for a second? Before he could blink, the look on her face more resembled mild disgust.
"Do you have your wallet or your purse on you?" That sounded weird. "What I mean to say is, do you have any photos of Vivi on you? If not, would you like me to drop some off? Or would that just hurt knowing you wouldn't be able to visit her for a bit...?" If Fallon wasn't in such a pitiful state, he'd be up for a good "JUST KIDDING, MORE CHILD TIME FOR ME LATERRR <3"moment, but in this situation it was really uncalled for. Imagine that, Aeson Frey finally realising when his immaturity was uncalled for. Remarkable.
Duh. "I could stop by the ministry myself..." He said softly without thinking. The minister was probably so busy there was no way Aeson would actually get an audience with him. Fallon probably had a better plan already devised. Aeson mentally hit himself for opening his mouth without thinking.
A year? That was unsettling. What if the attack had been launched when Fallon was at home with Vivi? Or if he had used that time to plan even more devious acts? Now was not the time to raise such questions. "Well you didn't exactly ruin it. Now you know what he looks like and what his wand is like and what his favorite spells/attack methods are... right?" Hopefully Fallon at least got something positive out of her attack. If not... What was the point? Were the bad guys winning? Aeson was busy worrying about scenarios he was creating in his mind when he noticed Fallon press the call button. Was she feeling alright? "Oh... Should I go now?"
Aeson smiled weakly at the thought of his daughter. "Actually, I already told her you went to a mommy convention and I showed her a picture of some pink-cutesy store in Japan. I also told her you're going to be back with presents and candy. I also figured, since I made up that genious cover story, that you could pick up the tab." He smiled. "Or not, I'm sure she'll miss you so much by the time you heal she'll forget about candy." Forget about candy? If Aeson's attempt at comforting Fallon came true, he'd want a paternity test. What the hell kind of kid forgets about candy?
Huh...? Aeson was almost paralyzed. Did she... Did she seriously just do that? Before he could think about it, he kissed her lips. He quickly withdrew, he definitely didn't want to seem like he was taking advantage of her illness. "Um... Sorry... I should go..." There was no way Fallon Grimwood kissed him and intended for it to be in a romantic way. He was probably going to get something thrown at him very soon. Yet, he didn't want to run out of the room. Some insane part of him wanted to stay... forever. No, that couldn't be. Fallon and he were over romantically. Just two friends trying to raise a bastard daughter together... Yep... Nothing more... Right?

Aeson was being surprisingly gentle and mature. It was odd that at times like this she actually missed his goofy and immature nature. Not to say she didn't appreciate him being mature once in a while, but she always thought to herself that if he was like that all the time she'd hate him. For real. There was still a part of her (a really small part, honest) that still cared for the Aeson she knew. She left him because he didn't support her goals, they didn't want the same things for her career. Aeson didn't believe in her and that hurt. It wasn't because he was prone to acting stupid or silly that really bothered her at all. Those were the reasons she fell in love with him. He was exactly what the doctor ordered for her uptight, goal-oriented self. Save that whole lack of support thing.
The first time Aeson had asked if he should leave Fallon hadn't replied. After they kissed though Fallon was suddenly hit with a large amount of panic that definitely wanted him out of the room. Well, actually at first she was hit with the strong desire to pull him back and kiss him again until she couldn't breathe any more... and then that thought filled her with panic. Her hands were practically shaking. The trauma had really done a number on her.
A nurse came in and Fallon used that as a cue, "I'll pick Vivi up something as a gift when I'm out, no worries. If you could just do me a favor and keep her mind off me as much as possible, I'd appreciate it. Thank you." With that she turned to the nurse, "Could you just adjust the amount of pain killers, I think I might be on too high a dose, I'm not quite feeling myself." And with that she basically dismissed Aeson, hoping he'd leave quietly so she could think and try to determine what had just happened with them.
