Juniper enjoyed the ideas of dark arts, but much differently indeed. She wanted to revert them back to their core, back to being helpful and not a hindrance. However for some reason few really understood that reasoning, so she did not express it often, however Damien seemed to be just as interested, or so it seemed.
“That is true, there was little to fear back home, at least compared to here or other areas of the world, in ways I feel like home really is a safe haven at times.” She smiled, never once did they really fear of being torn apart by creatures that they learned about in study. They laughed about them really, but know having been around the world Juniper knew much better.
“Yes, I think that each generation is getting smarter, and more apt to magic abilities. I mean just in my classes alone I have some rare magical abilities showing up, they are learning much earlier then before.” She did not state if she felt it was good or not, because it was a mix. Being predisposed to magic is good, but can have its drawbacks as well. And the youngsters seemed to be stronger in their gift each year.
“Also the idea of nature versus nurture comes to mind.” She added, because it was really a question if someone really is pure and innocent and what is it that makes him or her change. She was sure that nurture was a very key component, and that all things started out for the good.
“The loss of humanity, the physical change is quite well documented.” She stated, clearly she had been doing so research, so why then had she not picked up on his very strange behaviorism's? Because she never sat down and spoke one on one with a vampire, not like this anyway.
“But what is their to life if it is not exciting?” she retorted, the point of life was to make the most of it with the time allotted, so she was one to take risks, in a way going out with a bang seems more suitable then the alternative. “I tend not to think about it much, it will happen when it happens. So mind as well make the most of what you got.” She smiled, sure the ways he talked was like she had a near death experience, or maybe someone close had passed in her younger years, but neither was true. Juniper had always viewed life differently, and being the first Primrose to leave the states it was quite obvious to her family that their little girl was indeed… different.

there goes the neighbourhoodAND THEY SHOULD lock me up, lock me up Damien enjoyed the dark, and he would never wish it away. But he could agree that life would be much simpler, much safer without the constant dangers. Nothing dark really frightened him anymore, when you were something so close to evil, things that were once frightening became ordinary.
"At least there are some safe places in the world. Are you attracted to danger?" there was a slight smirk on his face. He asked her this, due to her leaving her safe home - she must find scary things intriguing. He nodded his head at her next statement. There were plenty of naive and easy to manipulate students, but with that there were very strong ones. He had Janet to thank for his knowledge of student strength - just the thought of her made him involuntarily shudder. He still had to deal with her.
"I definitely agree to that. Some of them even shock me. It took me a lot longer to perfect my magical abilities than it seems to be taking the students," he gave her a slight smile. Damien was lucky to have hundreds of years on his students, otherwise they would be very difficult to control. Some of them were feisty.
"Mm, yes. I believe it's a combination. I think everyone comes into this world with their own... Personality, but how they are nurtured determines where they take it. Even the nicest of people can turn bad when faced with too many difficulties," he stared at her for a moment. He was definitely referring to himself in that moment. He had been as good as it gets. That clearly had changed.
Damien watched her, his blue eyes sparkling with interest. He could tell she'd done research, otherwise she wouldn't have been curious about the change a creature can take. He decided he'd inform her, and attest it to research. "With all of my research on the Dark Arts, I've looked extensively into demons and creatures, I've... Talked to a few," he tried to form a proper story. It made sense to him. "Most of the time it's a choice. An easy choice for most creatures. You either feel everything - every painful human emotion. Or you feel nothing, absolutely nothing. You feel no guilt, no remorse... No love. You only feel what the demon inside you makes you feel." His eyes were locked on hers as he expressed the truth. "When you choose to disregard your humanity, you simply go back to basics - wanting blood, human flesh - whatever the creature craves. It's hard to feel anything human," he finally shut up, realizing he was speaking more than he should.
Right now, himself... He felt on the borderline. He'd ingnored what was human within him for so long. But every so often he felt precious emotions... He assumed this weakness was due to the way he was as a human. Damien had always been exploding with emotion, everything was an extreme with him. He loved as intense as he hated. So essentially, blocking out human sensation was unnatural to him, it fought with his character.
And yet, it was easier.
He snapped out of the talk of humanity and chuckled at her slightly. "I completely agree, excitement is what keeps us going. But still, living is alway nice," he gave her a teasing smirk. "At least you're enjoying your life. I never understand people who simply sit around and wait to die... That they fear it so much." He turned in the window sill, letting his legs dangle outside. It was a little more interesting than facing the indoors.

In any usual instance the conversation and questions should throw a red flag here or there, after all she did happen on a young girl leaving her tower before she herself entered. However Juniper was too keen on the best intentions that she was missing a very large part of the picture. Could be from her living so safe as a child that she did not see it like she should; however his question about danger made her slightly chuckle. “Perhaps to a degree. Living it safe and quiet does not seem attractive to me. I don’t seek out danger, I suppose…” she paused because while she did not readily seek danger she did put herself in danger quite often, just to see if her experiment was working.
And she did a lot of experimenting…
“Yes. It makes one wonder if the cosmos are altering.” She smiled, the stars and the future where tied together in theory, but Juniper held that lightly. The stars showed you the past, where we all came from, not where we were going.
“I like to believe to have faith in people.” She smiled, dreamy at that point because she really did believe that the world could change… immature fantasy…
She found his explanation quite intriguing, where had he discovered this information, what sources had he came across and how did he get to speak with demons about it? It was much to short for her wondering mind to be a reliable end to her searching. “Fascinating, how did you come across something like this? Is there a study?” she questioned, clearly she wanted to read and learn more about this. Her body was sitting straighter, like she was ready to soak in the information given to her. It was something more to it. What was it that she really wanted to know?
“I am not sure I understand how it is an easy choice. Humanity is far more then just being human.” She said taking in his words each one running in her head like an echo. “I can’t imagine feeling nothing, I also wonder what correlates to the demon inside. Are you suggesting that that trace of something different is that much stronger then the human soul?” she was a curious girl. She asked questions like a reporter, and truth be told that was where she started, granted the Quibber was not hard hitting news, but to her it was... utterly fascinating.
“Well I too am not immune to the fear of death, but have come to realize I worry more about my students and of the others around me then my own life. Strange really.” She said talking like she had only just came to terms with the idea, but she had always put others before herself. She smiled as he dangled his legs over, once she had jumped from the window, to be caught by her broomstick of course, but it was a rush of air and freshness that made her smile again. However that daredevil behavior was best kept to herself for the while.

there goes the neighbourhoodAND THEY SHOULD lock me up, lock me up "It almost sounds like you do, but I'll take your word for it," he smiled almost sweetly. He joked with her, he could come across so human. No wonder she hadn't realized he was a vampire. It wasn't that he went out of his way to hide his true nature, he just masked it. Damien couldn't afford to have somebody figure him out now. His plans to drain the school were still well in effect. "And yes, keeping safe is so overrated. Gotta live a little," he said. It excited Damien to see humans with passion within them, with a desire to sample the unknown. Those were the humans he didn't want kill - torture, yes - but not kill.
He could have laughed at her comment. Damien enjoyed her optimism, so wishful - so impossible. "It's kind of you... I'm not quite as trusting, however," he was being honest. He didn't have faith in anyone. He's learned the hard way that the only person he can depend on is himself.
"Most of that was gained from speaking to creatures. Some of them were... Kind enough to educate me," he watched her, interested as she absorbed the information. He witnessed her sitting straighter, emulating child-like excitement - though, of course more toned down. However, he picked up on her movements and he was amused. He could have smiled at her. "I haven't really searched for documentation on this, but nor have I really seen any. And I've read quite a few things." That was an understatement.
He observed her with his breath-taking eyes, so inhuman. "It's not always an easy choice, nor is it completely black and white. But for the most part, it is easier to disregard emotions... Because most creatures need to feed on humans, and a lot of them can't stand feeling the guilt of hurting someone. It's easier to shut out those horrible feelings, because at the end of the day, they usually need to hurt someone to survive." He took a breath, wondering if she was going to jump up and accuse him of being a creature himself. "I can understand the reasoning... It makes sense to me... I mean, sometimes when you hurt people - whether it be physically or emotionally... The guilt and pain can be hard to cope with." He shrugged just slightly, trying to connect the concept with his faux human persona.
"I don't think anyone is completely immune to those thoughts. It's not too strange, you are selfless," it was an observation of her character. He identified her as the motherly type. With the way she cared for her students. There weren't many people so kind - he'd mostly encountered those who were selfish.

“Ah, to what end would a life be that has not truly lived” she smiled; in a way it was a joking silly statement, even though it was true as well.
“Everyone deserves at least one chance.” Yes, Juniper was a person who game one too many chances to people at times, but she was doing well regardless. Juniper was raised by a very strong family, but still one can only discover who they are once they leave and make their own life.
Juniper was rather enticed by his knowledge of creatures and, as a dark arts professor she really did not dig too deep into how or why he had the information. She had been told many things before, but he seemed to be a more… reliable source. She did wonder how he came about to find a creature kind enough to educate, because those she had encountered were less then chatty. “However they don’t disregard emotions it is more of morals or values. Because they tend to enjoy there, hunt in an increasing pattern. It is like a different set, granted not everyone is a wonderful person, but it is almost like a flip. What once was bad is now good.” She sounded like she was going to start a debate, but it was a reasonable query.
“So you believe that they only rid themselves of guilt and pain? I think we are all suitable to each. However I wonder if given the opportunity to change back would it be as simple a choice?” She wondered, while she worked on dark arts she dabbled in creatures as well. With the direction of the conversation she wondered if she should change her direction to helping creatures cope with their need to survive, with perhaps an alternative to human sacrifice. Sure it had been researched before, but it could not be harmful to try.
