For once, Matt could eat in the Great Hall without feeling as if everyone were watching him, as if everyone knew he didn't belong here. He was finally giving Hogwart's another chance. He had forgotten how secure the walls felt around him, protecting him from the fierce forest. But he had left behind a friend, Andrea. He would surely run into her when he hunted, if he hunted. Or if he just wanted to run around as a wolf. That didn't seem so bad. But he was just in a good mood at the moment. But these walls still harbored harsh memories of times past. Ones he would never forget, but hoped to overcome.
The Great Hall wasn't busy today, he was just chilling out, he had brought a book with him. He had just gotten some money from his parents and had bought all of his supplies the day before. They were still in their packaging in his new dorm. He hadn't really seen much of his room mates, and he needed to sign up for his classes, which excited him. He longed to learn so much more. That was the biggest thing he wanted to do, was learn. It sounded weird as he thought it in his head. Matt had taken so many things for granted, his education being one of them.
Now he was stronger, and he wasn't going to let people get to him. And he strongly regretted leaving, he was behind, and would study and catch up. His parents were proud of him, he had ended up telling them everything. They were so glad, and had been so worried. Matt had been so emotional, he hadn't even thought about what he was doing to his parents, but it had taken Airan, and Andrea to show him this. He had learned so much, and he was very thankful he had met them. He certainly wouldn't be here if he hadn't.
Then thoughts turned to his newest aquaitence, Janet. He wondered if he would see her sometimes. She seemed interesting, and Matt didn't know anyone else. And he truly wanted to get to know her. He wondered what house she was in, it hadn't been important when they first met. Matt hadn't been considering re-enrolling at Hogwart's, he had thought about it, but knew he probably wouldn't do anything about it, but he had. And he was proud of himself.

The Great Hall, never too much fun for the loner of a girl that few spoke to, however as of late Janet seemed to be getting out of her shell, and talking to others. Perhaps it was being captain that was getting her going, she was scared at first, and fact was she still was horrified of the idea, but it was good nonetheless. She was hungry, and was starting to do better at letting the house elves prepare her food, they seemed to be more understanding then she remembered in the past.
She had came out of the kitchen, from behind the portrait of the fruit bowl. Her hands was a grinder style sandwich, with a variety of veggies and some swiss cheese, she smiled took a seat and started to eat, like any regular girl would. Then she noticed someone she did not think she would see again, Matt? she thought his name was, oh how terrible her mind has been since she returned to her position as regular girl.
She took another bite, unsure if she should go over to him, after all she did tell him she hunted his kind, but they did have a good conversation regardless, and her therapist kept telling her to speak to people more then once. So she took another bite, it was good after all, she had watched the elves make the sandwich for her, and took the rest over to where Matt was sitting.
She had her Ravenclaw robes on, and her Quidditch captain emblem too, she was going to have practice later that day with a bunch of students that wanted to try out, since she pushed a bit to hard she decided to wait on picking a full team until later, and getting a good feel on the actual abilities. “So, student now, or working here?” she asked remembering her suggestion of working on the grounds. She took a seat, silently thinking she should have asked first.
She was all about wrong moves, so this one would not kill her…

Matt was rather in his own little world. He was trying to get back into his book. Although it wasn't really working. His thoughts just seemed to interesting at the moment. He almost didn't hear a familiar voice ask him whether he was as student, and it almost sounded like Janet. He turned around just to make sure, and his eyes grew wide. "Hey! A student actually." Matt said, his cheeks flushing a bit. "I never have had a good work ethic." He continued, chuckling.
"How have you been?" He asked sincerely. Matt really hoped she was doing alright. He knew they hadn't exactly become best friends, but she was the only person, besides Airan, that he knew here, and she had been polite to him when they first met. It was all he had ever asked for. And even though she admitted to hunting his kind, she hadn't tried to kill him, she hadn't judged him. It was a nice feeling.
Then he noticed her Ravenclaw robes, and it had a quidditch emblem on it. "Oh sorry, let me moved my stuff." He said, closing his book and moving it and his bag over to the side. Matt was glad she sat down. He was really happy she had even come over to say hello. It was a step in the right direction at least. At least he was starting on better terms than when he left.

Janet managed to smile, it was strange since she did not often smile, however it was nice that she could talk with this person without thinking about what they thought of her. He knew a bit about her past, and her nightly expeditions and still he spoke to her. That however was not all that important at the moment, she was trying to move on, and it was nice to feel like she could, at least for a minute or two.
“Well Congratulations are in I would suppose. It is not easy to return as a student again.” She said knowing how difficult it was, but she also felt it was important to finish it off too. That was why she was two years behind, one year her choice, the second was just a mess of unfortunates. “Well, The headmaster must be going a bit crazy because they made me quidditch captain.” She said to his question of how she had been. “However I guess things are going well, It will be nice finishing this year.” She said sounding much more uplifting then she had been previously, she was indeed doing better, thoughts of hunting far and in between her life was starting to come back around, and that was a good thing. “So been here long? It takes a bit to get settled back into things.” She said remembering he had a friend of some sort in the school, “Was it Airan you had mentioned? Must be glad to have you back at school as well.” Janet was not sure if mentioning the name was good or bad, but she was not going to keep questioning every move she made, at least she sure was going to try.

Matt smiled. "Thanks. It's not, but I'm so glad to be back. It actually feels right this time." He confided. It was true. And from what Janet had told him, she was probably the only one who truly knew how he felt. She had left, then came back, but for reasons Matt didn't know. Not that they mattered. He could tell she was a rather reserved person. Sometimes Matt was, but for the most part, if he liked you and felt comfortable, then he would talk your ear off.
"Congratulations are in for you then." He said smiling warmly. There was no way that he would be any good a quidditch, he loved to watch and had no desire to play. He knew Janet had to be good if she was made captain. She was just being modest. He nodded. "That's good." Matt was glad that she was having a better year than years she had in the past. He could definitely relate.
Matt shook his head. "Only been here about three days I think." Then he noddded confirming. Then his eyes brightened at his boyfriend's name. "Yes. He is very glad, although we aren't in the same house. But we do see each other quite a bit." He said, his cheeks flushing slightly at the fond memories, now they no longer had to sneak about, but they weren't very public with their relationship just yet. They were rather private people anyway. And Matt did feel kind of touched that she remembered Airan's name, or anything about him for that matter.

Janet knew what the feeling of right was, however there were some dark days in the beginning, however she had gotten to the point she was glad to be there, and glad that it soon would be over. It was nice in a way to have someone to relate to, returning to school from any sort of long absents is harder then most would think.
Janet actually smiled when he gave her some congratulations, it was nice to hear even if it was still a bit overwhelming at times. Janet supposed it was her perseverance to continue in school that gave her that slot, not that her game was bad, it was indeed very good. It had been her salvation two years prior and the choice to start a new life without all the killing and hunting. Whatever the case may be, Janet was taking it a day at a time and starting to enjoy herself again.
“Yes, houses are a bit difficult at times.” She said referring to her past schooling years all her friends, rather people she knew had been in Ravenclaw, except Christy she was the only one in Gryffindor. “Though the house rivalry’s seem to be less then they have been in the past. Which is a good thing.” She said not sure she herself believed it, she was indeed one to be the hater of all Slytherin at a point in her school days. That however soon changed when she had been confronted by many people, regardless of their house, that she did not like of even hunted.
Janet at this time had finished her food, eating as Matt spoke, and finishing it off soon before she spoke. She had noticed that she actually ate more this year, she wondered if quidditch was more exercise then hunting, clearly it was requiring a bit more nourishment. “Have you started classes then? They gave me a week before I had to attend any.” Janet said, but then again she was nearly dead prior to it, a coma for 6 months, and a week to get back up on your feet seemed reasonable.

Matt glanced about the Great Hall, seeing kids from different houses just sitting around chatting, eating. It was strangely warming. But he knew how they could be. But he pushed the thoughts from his mind. This was a second chance, and he wasn't going to screw it up this time, not matter what he had to deal with, and if Janet could make a fresh start, so could he. But he was surprised, but happy when she smiled. "I know I've said this before, but you really need to smile more." Matt said grinning.
Matt nodded in agreement. "Yeah. It wasn't that bad when I attended in the pat, but I don't blame anyone for not wanting to trust a lycan." Matt said chuckling. Even Janet had admitted to hunting his kind. His kind. It felt so weird to say that, since he didn't really consider himself a lycan. He didnt' feel like one either. But a good run did sound nice right now. To feel the wind blowing through his...fur. Even though the house rivalry had cooled down, you always got a few students who took the house loyalty to a new level. There were always Slytherins who acted better than everyone else, who sneered at the "lesser" houses.
He shook his head. "Not yet. They have me a few days to get everything sorted and signed up for classes and whatnot. I should be recieving some packages with all my old school stuff from my parents." He said shrugging. Matt remembered when he decided to drop out of hogwarts, and sent all of his school things. Matt wanted to keep them, in case he did re-apply. And he was glad he did. A warmness spread through his chest as he thought of his parents reaction to him attending Howarts again. He never did get used to the feeling of letting them down, and now he could just let it go. This was a second chance.

Janet once again was not entirely sure what to say to the response to her smile. Clearly things where looking up, oh how long ago as a child her mother made her laugh and smile. It seemed like those days could return again. “I will work on that.” She grinned, trying to do her best a not looking totally goofy. Slowly each day got a little easier.
“Trust is hard to come by, regardless.” She said knowing how much trust she gave out was one thing, and not a good judge of character but it was a dark time still. Christmas coming up was indeed bringing the days though, however trust was still a rare commodity it seemed.
“That is good, milk it. Once you start the Professors don’t cut much slack. They bend a bit, but for the most part you are just pushed right in like you never left.” Janet said to him, giving advice was strange and new, but also easy to do. Whether he wanted it was another thing. A hard thing for sure, trying to help did not always help. Janet thought of her parents when she first contacted them. They where scared more then excited, but soon they learned to get past the magic and darkness their daughter had been involved in. Over the holiday she planed to stay for three days back home, it would be nice, and simple.
“Any plans over the holiday? Catching up at the school or heading home?” Janet had a plan of both, it seemed witches had a faster travel method then muggles. In and out in no time, plus she was not bound by too many restrictions these days she could apperate now too, no more floo network for her.

"Good." Matt said nodding happily. He didn't like people to be upset or sad, and always did his best to cheer them up. And he loved making people laugh, but only to people he knew. He was rather shy when it came to people he didn't really now. Then again, he didn't really know Janet, but she was different.
"Yeah. It's a sad, but true fact." He said, looking at the table. Thinking how many people had avoided him, his "friends", after finding out he was lycan. Only because of things they had heard. They didn't listen to him explain he hated being a lycan, how he would never hurt anyone, or anything. But they didn't believe him, hardly gave him a chance.
But that time in his life was over, he needed to quite living in the past. But a grin played across his lips as he advised him to milk it out. "Thanks. I'll make sure I do that." He chuckled. He was glad for the advice, he knew he'd probably have somewhat of a difficult time re-adjusting to life at school. But it was better than living in the forest. Then again, anything would be better than the forest.
Matt just kind of shrugged. "I don't know. I'll probably go home. I haven't seen my parents in ages. Well, since I dropped out. I didn't realize how much I have missed them." He admitted sheepishly. "But I know I should probably catch up here. Oh well." He said playfully. "What are your plans?" He asked curiously.

Janet had expected the question returned, it was a noticeable quality that conversation shared. If you don’t want to answer a question yourself, be sure not to ask it either. She however was content with the answer she would give.
“Well I am going to visit my folks a bit, just a few days. WE are recently reconnecting after a very long time apart. Just going down for the holiday and weekend, then straight back here to get the rest of my courses up to date, after all it will be my last semester here.” She said having a slightly hard time thinking about not being there, after fighting to keep herself in school till the end, it was strange that the end was going to come finally.
She had to think about work too, she had enough money to hold her over for about a year, from her… well past employment. Yes she was a hunter but she was paid to hunt too. A detail she did not feel necessary to mention, the crime did pay well, but it was still a crime that robbed many of lives and her own past and childhood.
“You should head home for a bit.” She said not expanding on a reason why, but she knew how hard it was to go back home, and when she did it was not what she had expected at all. It was a sad and happy time from her parents whom where just glad to get their daughter back. She just realized that she could get gifts, she had not gotten a gift for her anyone since her brother died, he received her last gift.
“What is a good gift to give? I totally forgot to get my parents something.” She figured it would not hurt to ask, htough she doubted he would come up with something viable, after all anything magical was out of the question. They had a hard enough time with everything magical in their lives, no need to confuse them more.

"Yeah. I'm kind of nervous about it though. I'm scared my mom won't let me come back." Matt said chuckling. Who knows what kind of a lecture he was going to get. But they had said they weren't mad or anything, and that they missed him. And he was looking forward to being home. He could remember it, and he longed to be back in his own bed, curled beneath his quilt his grandmother had made him. "I bet that's exciting though!" Matt said smiling. He couldn't really imagine himself graduating. After all, he had just restarted at the school.
Then he nodded. "Yeah. I just hope no one minds a strange wolf running through the streets." He added, laughing. "I used to hate being a lycan, and I still don't like it." Matt admitted, it kind of just slipped out. He knew she probably didn't care, and that she hunted lycans, and other creatures. But Matt couldn't imagine her hunting. Then again, he couldn't imagine anyone hunting creatures, unless they were a danger. Most weren't though. If he could make it in the forbidden forest, then it couldn't be that bad.
He just shrugged. "Sorry, I don't really know. I've never been good a picking out gifts." His mom or dad always helped him pick out gifts. He had wished he was better at that, but he had never really known anyone well enough to be able to pick out a gift confidently. Then he had gone to Hogwarts, and had made some friends, but he hadn't really needed to try that hard. He just picked out some good candy, or pranks of some sort, and that was a pretty universal gift.

"Well my parents took me back, I would hope for the same. They are parents after all. When my brother was turned into a vampire, they still accepted him… even if they did not really know what that meant…” she said mumbling the last bit to herself more. Muggle parents where a burden sometimes. She wished that she could have been normal, and none of this would have happened, and Terry would still be alive.
“Exciting an a bit nerve-wracking too, like what I will do once I leave here. Honestly I have had little thought of it. My life has not really had a real plan to it.” She said picking her words the best she could. In the past she had thought she would work and hunt until she could no longer, or die. A value on her own life did not seem, important at the time. However as she was moving into a good foundation she was starting to give into the real life that so many dreamed of.
“We all don’t like something about ourselves, yours is just… more prominent I guess.” She said with a little smirk, unsure if it was funny or not. She sure had a lot about herself that she did not like, why deny that? And it was not like there where not plenty in the school either. She had come to terms that some did not like their predicament, while others did. They where still part human at least…
“That’s okay, my mother has been making me scarves and sweaters since a started talking to her. I have two sweaters and five scarves, and they are actually quite nice. Maybe I could get her something for knitting or whatever.” She said not really sure if that was what her mom made them. However she was confident that they where made by her. Her mother was always a warm person, kind and friendly, Janet had almost forgotten that.

"I'm sure they will. My mom doesn't really understand what I'm going through. She was always accepted for being a lycan. Dad on the other hand...not so much." Matt chuckled. His dad hadn't gone to Hogwart's, and was kicked out of his home when his parents found out he was a lycan, with them being very successful wizards. Matt always knew he could talk to his father, and he would listen. His mother was just a little...weird. But he loved both his parents dearly and was upset at himself for putting them through grief when he hadn't wrote to them, or visited them. "Wow. I've never met a vampire before." Of course he had breifly seen them in the forest, but he had never crossed one, nor did he want to.
"I am lucky both my parents are lycans. And both sets of grandparents are magical." And from there it extended back dozens of generations, of course here or there, a relative married a muggle, so they weren't pure, but that didn't matter to them much. They were all happy. Matt loved Christmas time, when he would go to his Grandparent's house and just pretend that they were a normal family. Too bad it was quite the opposite. He wondered if his parents would allow him to go to the family Christmas this year when he went home. It had been ages since he'd seen all of them.
He pondered her words. "I can see what you mean. If it makes you feel any better, I don't have a real plan for next week, let alone the rest of my life." It was an honest statement, but it came out playful. He tried not to concentrate on the future, he got scared and intimidated. For now, he was just focusing on getting through the day, trying to make new friends, and get back into the swing of things, and so far, things were going well. "And more furry." Matt said, adding to the joke. A small chuckle escaping his lips.
"Nice. My mom doesn't really do anything like that. She does bake though. My God the woman loves to bake." He said, shaking his head. She was always trying new recipes, she could burn the main course, and manage a perfect desert. Of course that wasn't all bad though. He certainly enjoyed deserts, and his mom had alwyas let him be the first to try it. He really didn't think small things like that would make him miss his home and parents that much. His heart flopped a little at the sentimental memory. "I think that's a good idea." He told her reasurringly.

Learning more about this boy was different, Janet never really got to know anyone long enough to know anything about them, perhaps their name, and what they where was enough for her judgments. So he was born a Lycan… interesting… she was aware of her thoughts too, so kept them light and off topic for most part. It was a strange sort of training to keep your mind off topic when with someone (or something) that could read your mind or feelings. Janet had lost most of her talents, at least they where dormant but she was wise to keep the conversation going.
So, as most students few really knew what was going on in their lives. She had to make the best of it with her final term just around the corner. Her school days gong to be over, these sort of conversations soon to be long gone. The availability of someone to learn from or talk to was going to be less frequent, she knew this because she had left before, it was indeed lonely looking back at it. However this time she hoped it would be different.
“My brother and I where the first magical in our family, so it makes things a bit harder.” She added knowing that one detail about him, one detail about her was common place, and she had to embrace her history, and who she was. There was nothing wrong with being muggle born, and she had to accept that.
“If it is not one thing it is another. Parents are so strange that way.” She said thinking about how silly it sounded, her mother knitted his baked and the where in a school for the magical, something seemed out of context there. That was not to worry about. The afternoon was growing further from them as they sat there students had came and gone. Odd, Janet had always been the first in, the first out… not today.

Matt was glad he had met Janet. She seemed very interesting, down to earth. And he really tried not to concentrate on her thoughts, they were only fleeting thoughts. She knew that he could read them. But Matt didn't want to, and it was easier to ignore this if he hadn't fed from animals as a wolf. He couldn't sense her feelings, he could only do that in wolf form. But he still had superhumans speed and senses. "I wouldn't say I'm interesting. And I'm sorry. I hate being able to read thoughts. And I normally don't, unless I think about listening. It's hard to explain. I just want to appologize." He was a freak, and he flicked his bangs slightly over his eye. He normally did that when he became nervous, or insecure.
At least Janet knew about it, so she knew what she was getting herself into when she began talking to him. But would it be easier if she didn't? Matt didn't know what he wanted. If she wouldn't know, then he would feel guilty, but he wouldn't want to tell her. On the other hand, that Janet did know he was a lycan, he didn't have to hide anything. So he was glad she knew. He hoped everyone that he met was as understanding as Janet, or at least accepted him.
"Wow. That's cool though, I think." Matt said smiling. "I can see where that would be harder though." He was very fortunate, both his parents were lycans. And he didn't know how odd it was that he was a lycan, to be born one. He had never really thought about it until now. Matt watched other students get up and leave, some coming in late, or just grabbing a snack. He could smell all the food, and hear all the little chit chat as other students walked by him. Matt rolled his eyes at two girls walking by him. "Typical girls, talking about one boy, and thinking of another." He chuckled. "Sorry, being able to read minds does make life more interesting. Is that sad?" Matt asked Janet grinning.
