"Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock, jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring, snowing and blowing up bushels of fun, now the jingle hop has begun!" Fallon chuckled as she sang along with the song playing in the background. She set out flour, salt, shortening, eggs, milk, lemon extract, and a few bottles of different colored sugar crystals. Today was baking day.
"Vivi! Honey, come see mommy - I've got a surprise!" She grinned to herself and crossed her kitchen to pull some bowls out of the cupboard. She loved Christmas and she loved sugar cookies, but most of all she loved spending time with her daughter and today she was mixing the three together. If only she could do it more often, but Christmas only came once a year and she had to share custody of Vivianne with Aeson every other week.
Her smile slipped for a moment at the thought of her ex. He was so infuriating. Unfortunately, she had to put up with him. The only thing she liked about that man was that he gave her the beautiful little girl she loved more than anything in the world. Sighing, Fallon shook the thoughts from her head and put a smile back on her face before Vivianne saw. No need to worry the child, today was a day for having fun.

The outfit her mother had originally put her in lasted all of 10 minutes but the moment mommy went to a different room to tend to work matters or...something...Vivianne had changed into an oversized Weird Sisters t-shirt that belonged to her dad and a pair of thick black stockings. She also yanked on her favorite pair of shoes. Black Vans with pink skulls and flowers on the inside. Oh, and the bow in her hair? That was gone and hidden. Bows, mommy? Really?
The house elf Gramma sent her had helped her change her clothing, saying that Miss Vivianne was a child and prone to messes (She was. There was an incident with fingerpaint one time and they're still finding multi-colored finger prints in odd places) and should be dressed in something more suited for what they were doing. Pushing her white-blonde hair out of her eyes, she pushed past Melody. That was the house elfs name.
"Coming, Mommy!" Vivianne shouted. She heard her mommy start to sing again and started laughing. Her mommy had the bestest voice ever. Thumping down the steps, she made her way to the kitchen at a fast run, whizzing past other house elves, a little black and pink blur. She looked at the stuff on the counter, blue eyes wide open. "Are we making a cake?" she asked. Cake was awesome.

Fallon turned to her daughter as she entered and her smile disappeared. "Vivianne, what have I told you about wearing things of your father's here? I thought I threw that rag away." She closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose while taking a deep breath. She wouldn't let it get to her, she couldn't help that her ex brainwashed their child. "Besides, I put you in that dress from Grandmother specifically so that you could get it ruined before she arrived and thus not wear it."
It was a hideous thing. Fallon loved her daughter in lace and frills, but the thing was over the top and far too girly. There was a difference between frilly and lacey and girly. Sighing Fallon pulled over a step-stool and patted the top step. "Well, I won't send you back to change again, just sit down and help me out. We're not making cake today, no, something much better. We're making sugar cookies." Her smile was back as she looked down at her daughter and poked her nose briefly. "We can make a cake too though if you want."

And there it was. Her pout. It was known as a magical weapon of mass destruction by her grandparents. Daddy? He was far from immune to its charms. Mommy was a different matter entirely. It had a one in fifty chance of working and Vivi was praying that it would work today. She even wrapped her arms around herself holding her shirt close to herself. "But I like the shirt, mommy. And...gramma's gonna yell if the dress is messy when she gets here. She doesn't yell if it gets messed up while she's here."
Logic, mommy. Gosh. She started clapping happily, though, when mommy said they were making cookies AND a cake. She even started spinning and jumping up and down a little dangerously close to the eggs. One of the house elves saved the day and moved the potential disaster and Vivia stopped jumping.
"Are we using your recipe or gramma's? I don't like gramma's recipe. Its sour." She was trying to say bitter but she didn't quite know the word.

The pout, it was something Aeson couldn't ignore, but Fallon just watched her daughter, slightly amused. "I know you like the shirt sweetie, but..." How did she explain to her daughter that when she wore it it made her mother sad? She didn't want to burden her child with thoughts like that... she just didn't like thinking of her ex. "We'll worry about the shirt another time, for now let's just bake."
"She chuckled a little when Vivi got excited. "No, we're using mommy's recipe. I agree, gramma's recipe is very... sour." Smiling, she pulled over a bowl and poured in the first of the ingredients and mixed them a bit before putting the bowl down before Vivi. "Want to help me stir?"
Meanwhile she went over and preheated the stove and pulled out the cookie cutters. "What shapes do you want for the cookies today?"
