{ooc: The thread said ooc intro so I made another one, I hope it is okay I can move it if needed}
Annabelle had looked forward to this for the entire month. Dressing up in something other than those horrible robes! She wished she had a date, but who knew it would turn out good in the end right? There was some super security going on as she made her way up the stairs in her ball gown. She went Christmassy for sure. A red gown, very long and had an hour glass figure to it. It had ruffles on the skirt of it and green lacing on the top. To her it was perfect with her black strap on heals she felt nice being that tall. Her hair half up in a bun with curls falling down, it was a wonderful time to be a girl!
She heard music from the dance hall and was more then overly excited to enter the hall, but was stopped by professors checking to make sure she was a student. wasn’t this the safest place in the world? she thought to herself as she was let into the dance. It was fabulous, just as she had hoped. Like a winter’s eve without the cold she graceful walked in about a yard, until sure enough she slipped on her skirt.
I knew I should have had higher heals. her thoughts rang as she got back up and thanked the lord the straps on her dress did not break, that would be embarrassing for sure. She had not met too many people yet, and not many talked to her more then once. She was hoping that she would get some more friends here, but it seemed like very few attended the dance.
She let out a sigh as she took a seat, nearly falling over with her big skirt in the way. She wanted to go dance, but was feeling like she needed to take a time out. She was not finding luck at the school. It was that moment she felt like she wanted to be back home, with her best friends talking about how Bryan was the hottie of the school this week, or until Justin did something with that hair. Those were good times…

Kaylyn made her way slowly down the stairs toward the dance hall. The news of the Yule Ball had spread quickly through the school. It had practically been the sole topic of conversation since the announcement had been made. The question of how the school intended to keep the students safe had also been a hot topic among the students, with theories ranging from increasing staff presence to a complex system of charms and magical objects. The theories had become more and more far-fetched as the dance drew nearer. As far as Kaylyn was concerned, it didn't really matter what the school did, as long as they managed to keep the students safe. They could rely on dark arts for all she cared, as long as it did the job. Not that she was one to condone the use of illegal - and potentially dangerous - spells or artifacts, but if it worked, she wouldn't be the one to complain. She quickly shifted her focus to her steps, carefully measuring each pace. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, she turned toward the dance hall. Her steps faltered for the briefest of moments before she continued forward once more. If she stopped now she'd end up turning around and going right back up to the common room to curl up with a good book. Social events - especially dances - really weren't her thing. And the formal wear requirement really wasn't helping her opinion of the event. She had made a promise to herself, however, that she would go to the dance. She had also vowed that she would stay at least an hour and take part in at least one of the dances - even if she had to get out there and dance by herself. A cold hand on her bare shoulder startled Kaylyn out of her musings and she stopped abruptly, almost throwing herself off balance. A murmured apology issued from her right and she turned toward the voice, nodding once when she recognized the voice of one of the professors. Barely a moment passed before she was on her way once more, several voices wishing her a good time at the ball. It was all she could do to force a smile onto her face as she entered the dance hall. She was going to have fun. By golly, she was going to have fun if it killed her! Soft music greeted her as she entered the hall, setting a fitting mood for the upcoming festivities. A few more steps into the room and she found that it no longer took such extreme effort to keep her smile in place. As she made her way across the room to stand near the wall her dress swished softly against her legs. The white gown fell clear to the floor, golden accents shimmering in the pale light. A belt of gold encircled her waist, crossing around to the back of the dress to form a criss-crossing, open-backed style. A simple pair of gold flats adorned her feet. Ideally she would have like to wear a pair of strappy heels - which would certainly have complemented the dress better than her current pair - she did not trust herself to maneuver about the dance without tripping catastrophically. The long dress was turning out to be challenge enough without having to think about an additional tripping hazard. Kaylyn literally stumbled upon a place to sit when she walked into one of the tables scattered about the hall. She sank quickly into a(thankfully unoccupied) chair and waited for more people to arrive. No way was she even attempting to dance until more people had arrived to camouflage her likely-to-be-laughable attempts.

Kaine looked at his watch. 7:40. It was just about time to go. He glanced in the mirror at his appearance one more time. He didn't really have too many formal clothes, only one outfit actually. But Moira had bought it for him and told him that every guy should at least one set of dress robes. It didn't surprise him that she'd been right, she was right about almost everything. Even Ciaran had made himself useful, doing up Kaine's tie for him.
He didn't even know where Lucian was. He was almost positive Lucian was going with Tierney tonight. So he must've gotten ready earlier, because he hadn't been in the room for the last hour. Lucian was the type to get ready early though and go pick up his date and all that kind of stuff. Maybe that was Kaine's problem, did he not try hard enough? No, that couldn't be it. It had to be that he just hadn't had a reason to try in a very long time.
Oh, well, he could sulk about his depressing life later. Right now it was time to try and live a little. Kaine grabbed his wand and tucked it into it's place inside his dress robes and made his way out into the common room. The Fire Demon smiled slightly as he saw his little brother exiting the room with some girl he'd apparently asked to the dance. He wondered if the twins were going, they were probably going as each other's dates, just because they liked to stir up trouble. Murtaugh most likely wouldn't go. He wasn't much into dances and socializing, the silly Lycen.
Kaine waited a few minutes for his brother to get a head start on him, so that he wasn't walking right behind the boy all the way way there, before he started out himself. There was definitely a different atmosphere in the school tonight. You could almost feel it in the air. Everyone was happy to have something to do other than, eat, sleep, go to class or study. Hopefully people would be in a good mood for at least the weekend, considering it was Friday night.
It took a few minutes, but finally, the blonde reached the outer hall from the Yule Ball's dance floor. There were actually a bunch of people mingling in here waiting to go in and waiting for other people before they went in. He glanced around, looking to see if there was anyone he recognized, but it seemed there weren't. So Kaine simply took a place by the window, waiting and watching.

Corin inspected his reflection once more as he adjusted the lapels on his jacket. Looking back at him was was a young blonde man in a clean and crisp black suit, fitted well to accentuate his v-shaped frame. "Acceptable..." He tweaked his bow tie. "And now, superb." Satisfied with his appearance, Corin lightly spritzed some clean smelling cologne on his wrists and neck before glancing at the time piece on his nightstand. Currently, he was the only one occupying the room. Everyone else had either gone to the ball already or wandered into the common room to wait for dates and chatter. The Frenchman noted in the back of his head that heads did indeed turn. He gave his admirers a smug grin before exiting the common room and heading towards the dance hall. The blonde Ravenclaw greeted a few acquaintances at the doors, though his attention was much more attracted to the vast decorations. At least this aspect of Hogwarts was somewhat impressive. However, the idle thought was shortlived and tossed aside as Corin dedicated his thoughts to a much more important task of finding his date. A bright smile, more genuine than the one he graced the people at the door with, lit his face as he spotted Kaine near one of the windows. "Having fun?" he mused as he approached his male Slytherin companion. Corin's head tilted slightly as he glanced over Kaine's outfit. "My... my... You clean up well." He chuckled and reclined on the wall next to Kaine. "Perhaps you should consider modeling? I can hook you up with an agent."

The other boy was beautiful there was no denying that. Kaine had seen the pale blonde head working it's way through the crowd even before he'd seen the other's face. But even if he hadn't, the smile that was playing across the Ravenclaw's features could almost be felt. It was like Kaine was being sought out, except he was aware of the other's pull. Was it just him, or did Corin's allure seem stronger now than it had earlier today? Would it just keep increasing like that? He wondered if this was what a mature Veela was really like, if so he couldn't imagine what Ana would be like when she'd grown.
"Your agent?" Kaine pushed himself from the wall he'd been propped against, shifting slightly to face the other boy now. "I think I'll leave anything like that to you. You seem to have the confidance required." The Fire Demon gave the other a playful smile. "And besides, you look a lot better in a suit than I do?" His blue gaze scanned the other's body, briefly but noticibly. How could he not? The fact that Corin was good-looking and knew how to use it to his advantage was more than obvious. Actually it was really rather hard to resist.
Kaine offered Corin his arm with a charming grin. "Shall we?" He asked, inclining his head towards the other boy. No need to wait out here anymore, his date had arrive. As he lifted his head again, Kaine glanced around the waiting hall. Still no Lucian. Nothing had happend right? The other boy hadn't gotten sick again, had he? No, he probably would've been notified if that happened. Then again, did he really want to see Lucian? He was pretty sure he hadn't told his roommate about his specific preferences to partners and his appearance with Corin would definitely clue him in. He wasn't sure how Lucian would take that. Oh, well, he supposed he'd just see where this night went and deal with whatever happened as it happened.
Focusing back on Corin, Kaine cleared his mind of anything bothersome and simply waited to go into the dance hall with the other boy.

The Frenchman preened slightly at the other's praise. "Oh, I don't know... you could be trained." he commented idly with a wry smile and an almost suggestive look shining from pale blue eyes. "But let's save that talk for another night, no?"
His arm slipped into Kaine's and allowed the other to escort him into the hall, eyes glancing over the other couples and finding brief moments of dark glee in how horrendous some people looked. The Ravenclaw snickered quietly, but then remembered that wasn't exactly why he was here tonight.
He glanced curiously at his partner, though now that they were side by side he found himself having to slightly look up as the other was perhaps an inch or two taller than himself, canted his head to the side and watched emotions play out on Kaine's face as something seemed to pull his date's thoughts from the here and now. "Penny for your thoughts?"
Corin had noticed it earlier at the lake when they talked, a slight lapse where Kaine seemed... distracted. Corin wasn't sure to think of it for now, but was curious to know what was on his date's mind. This, one part of his mind noted, was also a first. The Frenchmen rarely, if ever, gave a damn of what others thought if it didn't have to do with himself.
He couldn't help but wonder what other points of interest would happen around this male Slytherin.

Kaine hadn't even realized he'd drifted into his thoughts so far until Corin brought him back to reality once more. A slight shake of his head and the Fire Demon smiled a cute, half smile at the other boy.
"A penny, huh? Okay, but I'll tell you for free." He replied in a playful tone. "I was thinking about you, and whether or not you're going to let me actually dance with you tonight." This time Kaine's smile was playful too as he and Corin crossed the smooth, hard-wood floors of the dance hall.
Kaine was absolutely determined to let nothing bother him tonight. He was just going to do what he wanted and regret nothing, until the morning anyway.
"So what do you think? You suppose I have a chance at that maybe? Or am I just an ornament tonight?" He asked jokingly, though he wasn't too sure. The way Corin seemed to be, that could quite be the case here tonight.

Somehow, Corin didn't seem to think that whether or not they were going to dance was really what was on the other's mind, but he let it pass and quickly forgot about it. At the other's tease, the half-veela couldn't help but chuckle. He peered up inquisitively at his partner, a charming smile clear upon his lips.
"Do I really seem that boring to you?" he teased. "Of course we'll dance." It was the Ravenclaw's intention from the start... among other things. This was a party, after all, and Corin intended to have fun. He gracefully slipped one arm around the other's waist. "It's a matter of where." He squeezed lightly. "And whether you want to take the role of the lead."
Corin in particular had experience with both roles, and since he didn't care about whether he was the lead or not... he felt like he should toss up that choice to Kaine. It didn't even occur to the French male whether the other knew how to dance or not. Corin merely assumed so. He considered dancing to be a rather basic skill and happened to enjoy it a lot. It was a good chance to show off.

Kaine turned his head slightly to the side, casting a glance at Corin as the other boy slid an arm around his waist. "No you don't seem boring at all actually." Which Kaine was glad for. He'd been looking for something, or in this case someone, to take his mind of things. Corin was a perfect distraction.
The Fire Demon lifted an arm and draped it over the other's shoulders and tugged the half-veela with him towards where more than a few couples had already taken to dancing. He ignored more than a half dozen people glancing at them. Clearly it took them a moment to realize Corin and he were both actually guys and that they were in fact a couple tonight. He smiled, mostly to himself and shook his head.
"In some things I take the lead. But dancing doesn't have to be one of those things." He replied, leaning in and speaking softly against the boy's ear, with a half grin touching his features. "I'll worry about that when a more formal song starts playing." He added, pulling back a bit once more. Right now it was just a band that the school had hired that was playing. It seemed they had missed the opening ceremonial songs, not that Kaine minded. He wasn't the type who overly enjoyed the waltz.
The demon let his hand slip from Corin's shoulders to the small of the other's back, pressing the other closer to him. "For now we'll just play it by ear, hmm?" He smiled again, the music picking up around them.

The soft playing of a piano melody was heard from up in one of the girl's dormitory. Also scattered in the background was frantic shuffling from one side of the room to another also feint sounds of a trunk slamming shut, and objects lightly falling on something. A Ravenclaw about 5'7 in a small purple bathrobe was walking back a forth around the room organizing things together. On the bed was an enormous fancy dress box slightly opened. "Why do I end up doing everything last minute.." Avian sighed with annoyance.
Finally gathering everything she needed, the veela went to work. Sitting down at her desk, Avian played with her hair for a couple seconds to decide where to start. Since her hair was already in a wavy mess, it would be an easier idea to go with curls. But once she checked her clock, Avian had little time to do her hair the muggle way. So instead she grabbed her wand and turned her frizz into silky curls that slipped into an up-do and her bangs brushed perfectly to the side. "Easy as pie." The Ravenclaw laughed and started her makeup. Staring at herself in the mirror, she decided to keep it simple and not look like a drag queen. Cover-up to blend any imperfections, and blush to add the blushing effect. Mascara, eye liner, and a touch of dark eye shadow to enhance her gorgeous golden eyes.
Getting up, she quickly moved to the bed to get her dress on. Ripping the box cover off and throwing it onto the other side of the bed, Avian peeled the layers of tissue back and slipped her dress out. As she slid the dress on, she admired how silky it felt against her body. Moving to her trunk, the Ravenclaw slipped on her silver heels which were placed there previously. Then stepped quickly over to the desk again and put on her jewelry. Standing in front of the mirror, Avian looked so beautiful. She had on a lovely mermaid style royal blue halter dress. With silver sequence along the top and a sexy front slit all the way to her upper thigh. Picking up a cute sliver butterfly clip, Avian carefully placed it on the side of her head just before the fountain of curls. "Perfect," she stated with a small smile.
Grabbing a matching blue shawl to throw over her shoulder, the veela carefully but quickly made her way to the Dance Hall. As she pushed the doors open, a few last minute stragglers also made their way too. The decorations were very beautiful this year. Stunning actually. Finding a random table, Avian threw her stuff down and took a seat. Her feet started to tingle with a slight pain from having to almost sprint down here. But she felt fine and decided to relax for the time being. She wasn't a very good dancer, but she was able to do enough to get by. Crossing her legs, the blonde sat there listening to the music.

As they moved into a knot of people, Corin was every bit aware of the scandalous glares pointed at their way. He smirked slightly and turned his head away from them in a clear gesture of disdain. This was turning out to be very fun.
The half-veela looked slightly surprised at Kaine's response. Hm? So his partner was fairly confident himself. "Splendid." Corin answered, pale blue eyes mirroring the his partner's amusement as he played into the touch. One arm rose to rest on the Kaine's shoulder.
The song currently playing was catchy and upbeat... not exactly the Ravenclaw's taste; he preferred more refined forms. Still, he wasn't the type to let something so small and trivial hinder him. Corin moved with ease, guiding his partner gently as they moved to the rhythm of the song.
Corin looked straight at Kaine and made solid eye contact as a smile twisted on his lips. His moves became slightly more extravagant while still maintaining a grace and control of many years of practice coupled with a sheer natural talent. As they drew close once more, the Frenchman whispered into the Slytherin's ear, "Enjoying yourself?"

Kaine leaned in, ever so slightly, to the other's body as they danced and Corin drew in closer to him again. The Fire Demon smiled to himself, feeling the other's breath on his ear.
"Yes." He answered, the reply slipping from his lips easily. It really did surprise him that he was enjoying himself so much. Being around Corin was much like being drunk, or that's what he likened it to anyway. The other's aura, the Veela pull is what he supposed it was, it was intoxicating. It had this ability to make him forget about everything but the boy pressed against him. And it was a most welcome distraction.
The song had just about ended when Kaine felt a tap on his shoulder. Drawing his attention from Corin, he glanced over and smiled at the two identical faces looking at him.
"Liam, Kian, I didn't know you two were coming." He looked over his little brothers, all done up in their dress robes. The Fire Demon let on of his arms slip from Corin's back, leaving the other resting lightly around the Veela's waist.
"Of course..."
"..we would come."
The two twin seers spoke in their usual alternating dialogue. It was usually amusing to watch how fluid the two could do everything like that.
"I see. Well that's good then. I don't suppose Murtaugh came, huh?" Liam and Kian shook their heads simultaneously.
"Nope, he's too much" "of a shut in. He's back in" "his common room, doing nothing." Kaine laughed softly.
"So what are you two doing? Something interesting has to be happening tonight if you two showed up." Kaine knew full well that the only reason Kian and Liam would want to mingle would be to possibly see a few extra futures and witness something entertaining. His suspicion was confirmed when the two smirked discreetely.
"We're here to" "watch you, of course." They replied, looking around the room as if searching for something. But before Kaine could ask just what that was supposed to mean, they had set their eyes on Corin.
"Brother's" "date." "Hello." They smiled at the other Slytherin. "Brother apparently has" "no manners. So I guess" "we'll have to introduce ourselves." "I'm Kian." "And I'm Liam." They both inclined their heads to Corin.
"Not that them telling you their names will help since no one can tell them." Kaine remarked teasingly, getting them back for calling him rude. They hated being told they were exactly the same, even though they strove to be in sync all the time. Kian and Liam just shot him a glare and Kian extended a hand out for Corin to take.

Corin was pleased with his partner, to say the least. The half-veela was enjoying himself quite well and was happy to have Kaine join in the fun. The Slytherin male was certainly attention worthy... and perhaps their night together wouldn't simply end once the ball did.
When he heard two unfamiliar voices, Corin curiously peered over Kaine's shoulder and looked over the twins boys who had just appeared. How cute! He listened to the exchange and learned a bit about his partner. It seemed as though Kaine had plenty of siblings.
Corin had never had much experience with his own siblings. While his father didn't mind visiting him, he was told that it was for his own good to stay away from the main family... not that he was interested in meeting some tight-minded simpletons.
"Tout le plaisir est pour moi. I am Corin Desmarais." he replied in greeting, taking one of the twin's hands (was this Klan or Liam?) and shaking it firmly. The half-veela glanced sideways at his partner before giving the two younger males a wicked grin. "No need to worry about your older brother here. I'll be sure to take good care of him."

Liam and Kian just smiled again when Corin promised to take care of Kaine. The nodded in unison.
"We know." The boys said together, glancing at one another with a knowing expression and snickered.
"Alright, alright, you two can go now." The Fire Demon shoved both of their heads off to the side simultaneously, rolling his own eyes. "Go bother Ciaran, he's here with his date too you know." The twins just shrugged.
"Yes, but nothing interesting" "is going to happen with him tonight." "He's going to ditch her" "for someone else later anyway." Kaine couldn't help but laugh slightly.
"Well, why don't you go tell her that, hmm? I bet that would make his night a bit more interesting." Kian and Liam both seemed to light up at Kaine's words.
"You know what?" "I think we will go now." The two of them smiled at Corin once more before looking at Kaine again.
"Be gentle." Kian said with a smirk and grabbed Kaine's hand putting something against his palm. "Later, Pyro." Liam leaned over to Kaine's ear and whispered one last thing before they left.
The twins really knew how to pack a punch and they always hit just when Kaine least expected it. Now he knew what they had been hinting at and he knew why. One thing would result for the other. He tucked his hand into his pocket, stashing away what Kian had given him and he looked back at Corin. His expression just a bit darker than it had been a few moments ago.
"So, how do you like my brothers?" He wondered, forcing a half smile onto his face. "They're amusing aren't they?"

"They're very cute." Corin answered with a smile, watching the twins disappear into the crowd. "What did they give you anyway?" His hand moved to slip into his partner's pocket to investigate first hand when he stopped.
Odd... Corin initially had the impression that Kaine got along well with his younger brothers, but it wasn't all that hard for the French teen to catch the change in his date's mood. He tilted his head slightly. "Something bothering you?"
He slipped the hand darting for the other's pocket into Kaine's hand, giving a small squeeze of comfort. Though, honestly, he was no good at this sort of thing... at least not the part that required you to be genuine; he rarely gave two wits to how others felt.
"It could be that Kaine's rather open and honest... not at all like the majority of people I've met." he noted silently, waiting for his date's answer.
