Landon stood in the empty alleyway for what seemed like days, but was in reality only minutes. It seemed as if Tierney had walked away from Landon for the last time and it hurt more than he would ever have imagined. There was no hiding how much she affected him anymore. He didn’t understand it and he didn’t even like it, but it there was no denying the way he felt. He would be lying to himself if he said that he didn’t want to run after her. He didn’t just want Tierney in his life; he needed her. She made him feel like there was reason to be the best person that he could be. And he was going to do whatever it took to make sure that he could at least keep her as a friend.
He could still feel her fingers in his hair, her hands on his chest, her lips on his. He would surely miss that. But he would not miss her smile or her laughter because he was not willing to live without them. She had come to mean so much more to him than he ever expected, than he ever wanted to admit. Every time he disappointed her it hurt him and he was done letting her down.
What could he do to make things right? Or at least as right as possible. What could be done to turn things around as far as their friendship was concerned? She’d said that she couldn’t trust him with her loyalty. He would prove her otherwise. But at what cost? What would it take?
"Please, just promise me you won't go back to how you were, okay? You're worrying me. I told you before that this behavior is unhealthy and will cost you the one girl you'll really want - really love - if you keep it up , but if you date someone long term and establish a more reliable and trustworthy facade then perhaps you can fix your reputation and fool the rest of the female population into trusting you."
Did Landon love her? Doubtful. Landon didn’t really love anyone (but himself). But there was no question that he wanted her. However, regardless, he knew he couldn’t have her in anyway at all unless he changed for good. His player behavior really disappointed her for the last time. He would finally put it behind him. He could be loyal and committed. That’s when Landon remembered that Victoria was waiting for him at the Three Broomsticks. She wanted him back. He’d been a great boyfriend to her before and he could do it again. Maybe it would stifle his romantic desire for Tierney. And maybe Victoria had changed and their relationship would be for the better. It could be good for both of them and it could help him get Tierney back…as a friend.
Landon ran his hands over his face before he left the alley and headed toward the Three Broomsticks. He ran over the words that he’d say a few times in his head. Getting Victoria back would be easy. She’d made it very clear that she wanted him. He just hoped that it would work for the real reasons he wanted it to. He opened the door and saw Victoria sitting at a table with one of her friends. As he approached them Victoria’s friend said goodbye to her and turned to face him with a smirk as she walked by.
“Looks like you all were having an interesting conversation…”

Victoria Reyes was many things, a beauty, intelligent, but most of all she was a manipulator. It didn’t take much for her to learn how to manipulate, it was easier than gaining a guys attention in her mind. It was her talent and she knew it.
Straddling a chair in the The Three Broomsticks arms propped on the wooden backing she listened half heartedly to her friend and nodding her head at every other sentence her thoughts wandered. Victoria often questioned her decision to come back to Hogwarts, yes, Landon was here and she adored screwing around with him, leaving him like she had, had perhaps been one of her best memories. But she despised the cold and living in the freezing stone castle. At least Colombia for all its problems was interesting and warm. Yet she’d still been drawn back after several years away. Even more so here she was out on a freezing day, when she’d much rather not be here but in the castle.
Sighing and running a hand through her brunette hair she opened her mouth to make a comment, to insure that Lena thought she was active in the conversations, not zoning out as she truly was. Only when she looked up to speak did she realize that Lena was saying goodbye. Blinking quickly she stared at the spot Lena had been, before shaking her head.
“What’s wrong with me? I could be running around Hogwarts nice and warm now. Instead I’m sitting in the bloody pub all by myself! This is ridiculous.” She commented to her self, her voice filled with a warm Colombian Accent.
“Looks like you all were having an interesting conversation…”
Shocked Victoria stood, her eyes narrowing as she looked at Landon. Well if she had to be out… at least she had Landon here to play with.
Letting out a laugh she strode toward him, her black boots clicking on the floor as the noise in the pub seemed to filter away.
“Landon, finally got over that little… doll, of yours? Decided you were ready to try to move up in the world?” She questioned lightly, eyes sparkling with her amusement. “Really, I knew you would get sick of her after you got what you wanted.”
Moving closer she looked up into his face, taking in the changes for the first time since she had returned.
“Or did she get sick of you having girls on the side?” She added with a smirk. “Even I know of your playboy tendencies.”

As Victoria strode toward him, Landon briefly reminisced about what he thought were the good times he had spent with Victoria. Some of them were actually good times and he had been happy. She had meant the world to him back then. Back then seemed like such a long time ago. She was probably even more beautiful than the last time that he saw her, especially since they’d both matured since then. But there was something about her that made her less appealing. Then she spoke.
Oh, that’s what it was.
Landon was pretty sure about his decision to get back together with Victoria, until she opened her mouth. Every time it opened her mouth it was like venom spewed out. If you knew her well, you knew better than to let her words sting you. But every now and then she would say something a little sharper than usual, and it burned. Victoria was definitely smarter than Landon gave her credit for. She’d been on to him the whole time and must’ve been getting information from other people in school about what Landon had been up to. But regardless of what people told her about Tierney, he knew she didn’t know the first thing about it. The only two people that knew what was really going on were the only two people involved.
“Tierney” he accented her name to make a point, “and I were just talking. I hadn’t seen her in a while so I wanted to catch up.” He cleared his throat to keep himself from getting angry. Apparently she wanted to make this harder than he had planned. He was planning for her to be welcoming with open legs arms, with maybe a bit of an attitude. “I don’t know what you think you heard about Tierney and I, but I assure you that you’re terribly mistaken. We’re barely friends. She’s very close to my family.”
Landon took Victoria’s hand and led her back to the table. He sat in the booth first, then pulled her into his lap. Now he’d start to lay it on thick, but not too thick. “I don’t wanna talk about other girls anyway. I came to Hogsmeade with you. And I’m sorry for taking so long at Zonko’s. I just got caught up.” A waitress came over and he ordered two butter beers. You know, the Yule Ball is coming up and I think we should go together.”

Victoria couldn't help but laugh at Landon’s words, ‘friends’ and ‘catching up’ is what he thought he was doing with that Tierney girl? Really it would take someone a lot less intelligent that she to believe that. Especially given Landon’s history with girls, if there’s anything she had been sure to know before she came back it was what Landon had been up to. Victoria wasn’t one to walk into a situation blind and just because she’d been away didn’t mean she’d become stupid. If anything she knew how to use her mouth and brain better than before, what was the saying? A year older another year wiser? Well that certainly applied to her and if Landon only saw her sharp tongue and her looks well that was his fault and in some ways it appealed to her. It was always easier to manipulate those who didn’t see beyond appearance and manipulate she would, after all where was the fun in letting Landon off easy?
When Landon led her back to her table and tugged her into his lap Victoria let out a small gasp. She was supposed to be the master of this game! Her not him! But… it almost seemed as if he knew how to play just as well as she and somehow that excited her. A small smile flashed across her face and she settled comfortably into his lap, turning so that she was more straddling him that sitting. This was about to get a lot more interesting and Victoria knew that she was about to have the time of her life with Landon around.
Once she settled down Victoria let a pout appear on her face and said “Aww, really now Landon ruining all of my fun. Are you telling me that you came here with me just to ‘catch up’ as well? So disappointing.”
Tilting her head slightly she looked into his eyes noticing the calculating look in them and startling slightly, moving back to get a better look until her back hit the table. He had plans, and Victoria couldn’t help but feel slightly nervous, before she shook it off.
You know, the Yule Ball is coming up and I think we should go together.” He remarked drawing her attention back to what he was saying.
“Go to the Ball with you?” She questioned with a mocking laugh. “Really you must be pretty confident in that pretty face of yours to think I’d say yes to that. If you want me to go anywhere with you, Landon, you need to put some actual effort into it. A pathetic ‘I think we should go together’ certainly won’t get me to agree. You need to get out of the 2nd year mentality and into the world of adults to convince me.”
Still laughing she ran a hand down his face, running her fingers lightly over his lips and leaning forward to kiss him. Brushing a kiss against his lips, and then moving to his neck she teased him then pulled away to look at him with a smirk.
“You think you’re good, but you really need to do better… or is that your best?” Victoria added eyes gleaming, knowing exactly how to play him to get what she wanted.

Landon had to keep reminding himself what his intentions were. He wasn’t trying to get Tierney to want him because he was in a committed relationship. Tierney was in a relationship with someone else, someone she was due to marry in just over a year. And she had already made it clear that she didn’t want him like that. She wanted to be friends. She wanted to be friends with someone that could be committed. Landon was trying to get back together with Victoria because Tierney was right. If he didn’t get his act together, the girl of his dreams would slip away. Victoria may be that girl. She used to be. Maybe she had changed. He had. Things could be better between them and he was willing to give it a shot, especially if that meant a distraction from a woman that he just couldn’t be with.
“Catching up isn’t exactly what I had in mind, no.” They had been hanging out on and off (basically whenever he wasn’t with Tierney) since she had been back. He’d fooled around a few time with 2 other girls just to make sure he still had is ‘mojo’ if he ever wanted to use it, mainly to prove to himself that he wasn’t as weak as he once was. Though, he didn’t think that he was weak back when he and Victoria were together. It was almost as if she had some spell over him that just made him succumb to all of her demands. On the rare occasion he would fight back, but those fights never ended well. Perhaps the second time around would be a little more fun, now that Landon had a bark and a bite of his own. But was it worth the risk. There was a chance that things could go right back to the way things used to be and he didn’t want that. He didn’t want to feel pathetic and useless, he didn’t want to get hurt. He vowed that he would never give his heart away again, to always keep his guard up. Tierney broke that wall down and encouraged him to invite someone in.
“I don’t know what you’ve heard about me, which you should definitely share, but if you’ve heard anything at all you’d know that this definitely is not my best.” He’d surely have to be a little more creative if he wanted her to say yes. But if Victoria was at all like she used to be, impressing her wouldn’t be easy.
The physical attention was definitely appreciated, especially since he’d been going through a little drought. Landon kissed her back firmly, trying to forget that his lips were on someone else’s not too long ago. Someone that he’d much rather be with, but couldn’t. Clearly Tierney didn’t want to be with him, or she wouldn’t have walked away. He had to be with someone else, someone that actually wanted him. Landon slid his hands up her thighs to rest on her hips. He wrapped his arms around her waist as he kissed her, pulling her closer to him, reassuring himself that this was the right thing to do. Kissing her with fervor, he desperately tried to convince himself that he wasn’t pretending she was Tierney. Landon left a trail of hot kisses along her jaw, down her neck, and across her collarbone. He didn’t care that they were in public. In fact, he almost forgot. Victoria needed to be his only focus. That was the only way that this would work. Landon lightly tugged on her lips with his before pulling away to take a breath. “Do you miss this? Do you miss being with me?”
As he glanced over Victoria’s face he tried to remember falling in love with her in the first place. There was no doubt that she was beautiful. Her dark sexy hair, blue eyes, voluptuous curves, could elicit lustful thoughts from any man. Tierney’s beauty was a bit different. It was more subtle, more natural. Victoria wore makeup to accentuate her features and clothes that showed off her assets. Neither was more beautiful than the other, but they were polar opposites. Landon lifted his hand to her face to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear then to graze his thumb over her cheek. “You’re beautiful, you know that? What happened to us?”
