Susan walked slowly into the Great Hall, very nervous about her first day. It made her even more nervous to know that the full moon was approaching. That could ruin things easily. Sue looked around, and there were no familiar faces. She sighed and made her way to the table with the people that had the same sign on their robes. She sat down and quietly looked around. Catching the eye of another girl, maybe about her age, she smiled. The other girl smiled, and then left. Sue hoped it had nothing to do with her. It probably didn't, being she didn't say anything. Grabbing a roll, she looked around again, waiting for someone else to say hello. Sue wasn't used to approaching someone, she was more used to being approached. She took a small bite. The taste was wonderful, compared to the foul food her mother had cooked at home. She smiled at the thought, and looked around one more time.

Miranda was frustrated, she really had thought that she had a good thing going, she had not gotten detention in what, a week? That was great, and her sister Minerva was running about with her own classes a this time. A quick bite to eat because she was to get to charms, because god knew how much trouble she would get in being late. At least she had her homework.
Well, maybe that was not a relief either. It was about two inches too short, and repeated itself twice. It was a dreadful grade, she knew it.
Rushing past other students her messenger bag hit someone in the back. Stopping she had the face of oh no not now… and turned slowly, who had she hit?
Crap. A Gryffindor, she was going to get it this time. Expecting her to shout either a spell or perhaps cry out to a professor Miranda quickly said, “Sorry ‘bout that, in a bit of a rush.” She said stepping back slowly, stealing a roll and dabbing on butter. The last thing she needed was a detention, after all she was on a roll so far!

Sue was just sitting when something hit her on the back. "Ow..." she whispered and turned to look and see who it was. It was a slytherin girl. Something flared inside of Sue, knowing the hatred that was always between Gryffindor's and Slytherin's. She assumed that it was done purposly, until the girl who hit her turned around and apologized. Susan felt ashamed of herself. How could she be like that? Hateful was not something she wanted to be at any point, no matter what house a person was in. So, she looked at the girl before her and calmly said "It's quite alright. You seem out of sorts. Are you okay?" The girl did seem quite frazzled, whatever he situation may be. A spark of hope hit Sue, thinking that there was a possibility that she could make a friend in this girl. But not here. And not now. This was definetly not the appropriate time to be making friends, with this girl in a rush to go somewhere, and the full moon approaching. Sue wanted to wait until after her night on four legs to begin relationships with people here.

Miranda sighed, at least she seemed, civil. “Man, Charms lesson is in like ten minutes and I totally can’t be late again.” She said lightly in a huff, not really though she was slightly relaxing, rushing to class was not an often thing for her, but charms had laid down the law in a way, be late again and, well detention was the last of her problems.
“Professors can be such downers.” She said eating her roll, “This is like my only chance to get something to eat before dinner. And care of magical creatures is not good to have an empty stomach, trying to tame a hippogriff with a rumbling in your stomach, well not advisable.” She said. It was a bit more then she needed to say, and really far to much for a Gryffindor, but she was not as into the house rivalry as others. But if another Slytherin was around, she may have a different tune…
“No classes?” She asked the girl who, seemed rather mellow compared to herself. New student? Perhaps she was, not that it really mattered all that much to her. However there where a few rushing about and a few mellow too. Perhaps she was just thinking about her own time frame.

Sue sat and listened to the girl tell her about her classes. It sounded pretty bad. Then she asked about her own classes. "Well, I don't have any classes at the moment. I'm new here, and haven't signed up for anything yet. I've thought about it, but I guess I'm waiting to adjust. I'm Sue, by the way. Sue Johnson." Sue stuck out her hand, smiling kindly. This girl seemed sweet. Susan hoped that it was not any kind of act, which it probably wasn't. But she had heard about Slytherin's tricking Gryffindor's into friendship and then turning on them with the change in the wind. She waited for the girl's response to her introduction.
((Sorry it's so short, but I have to go to sleep soon cuz I have to get up extra early tomorrow!!))

(ooc: no problem, having some emotional yucky going on. )
Miranda was not generally a chitchat person with a stranger, especially when she was running late. WAIT! Yes she was, that was why she was always late. She avoided classes like the plague, and homework was like pulling hairs, she was lucky she was not kicked out for her poor grades. However she was not dumb either, she just felt like she had better things to do.
“Well Sue, I am Miranda Vine. And if you can get out of it avoid charms. If I am late again they will have me head!” she said not so serious but still getting a point across. “It is such rudimentary stuff too, like levitate this or cast the spell, articulation, blah blah blah… she said rolling her eyes at the thought of it. Her family was a huge part of magic, of course she would know all of that already! It was indeed a waste of time that she could have spent doing far better things.
“You’ll love it here, Though I’ll be honest, houses still have a bit of a rivalry, so just be careful. I’m cool if they are, ya know?” she said with a smile, not wanting to sound like she was going to slip something nasty into her drink. “If you ever need to find a place I am all around here. Love it.” She said as she always was running a muck in the school.

Sue smiled, realizing that her assumption had been wrong. At this realization, she felt happy and stupid at the same time. The girl introduced herself as Miranda Vine. She seemed very friendly. She also said something about how she was always around if Sue needed help. "Thank you so much, I could really use some help. I still keep forgetting where the common room is, but I don't suppose you could help me with that?" Sue wasn't so sure whether or not other houses knew where all the common rooms were. She didn't think so, but couldn't be sure without asking. She looked down at her empty plate and just pushed it away. Sue wasn't really hungry at the moment, she had just come down here because there really wasn't much else to do. She wouldn't stay in her room with her books and be completely unfriendly. That wouldn't be right. Her smile refused to dwindle, even though she wasn't one hundred percent sure why. Did it really matter? As long as she wasn't creeping anyone out.

Miranda always thought it was super funny when new kids could not find their common room. I mean it was like the panicle of Hogwarts, plus other houses are like totally not allowed in, making other common rooms desirable, even if it is just to set up a prank of some sort. From what she got of things, they where rather the same, basic thing, not that they where all that fun by themselves. Hogwarts did have better places to be.
“Yea, Huff and Slytherin are down stairs in the dungeons. Not sure why thy stuck Huff’s with us, I mean really? Maybe they had no where else to put them.” She laughed, it was ironic that the Huffelpuff dorm was closest to Slytherin and the other two had their own towers. I mean how rude is that!
“You got to be on the top floor, maybe they wanted to give you guys some bit of a work out? I don’t know but if you get to the Astronomy tower you are too far.” She laughed. “Ravenclaws, seeing in that they are Raven should totally have to topmost tower, you think? But I have never really got the whole placement of thing in the school. I think they just tossed it all together and forgot to mention, Oh I put in a spa down in the third corridor…” Miranda figured that was a huge reason so many secret passages and what not. The founders did not seem to play all that well together.
“You thinking about joinin’ quidditch or anything? Teams have been lacking each year, I am sure at some point if it keeps up we just might loose them. That would totally suck.” She asked, having practiced with the team, but not officially on it, and never played in games she had high hopes for the sport.

Sue listened carefully as Miranda described the areas of each common room. It was surprising, how much she knew. She made a comment on why they would put hufflepuff's with slytherins. Sue shrugged, not really having a good answer. But would any house with slytherin really mix? She had heard that they were extremely bigoted pure bloods who lived for picking on, and putting down others. But Sue didn't see that in Miranda. She did seem genuinely decent. Her smile faded, only slightly because the muscles around her mouth were beginning to hurt from it. So, her common room was in the top tower. That was why it always felt like it took forever to get there. Then, she mentioned qudditch. What a great idea! She had loved it at her old school, and wasn't so bad. It would be fun to play again. "I'd love to try and join the team! Do you know where I can sign up?" Sue said.

Miranda had nearly forgotten about her plans to be on time for class this time because quidditch was on topic at the moment. She had been working hard for two years now to be a part of the team. Sad really, her pathetic attempts at doing just about anything to get to practice with them. Soon though, she knew she would be on the team. “Well you should talk to the captain of Gryffindor, or your head of hose is always a good choice.” She said having sought out her head of house when she was in her second year to try and join the team, still not a real player she liked to think she was a part of the team.
“Slytherin is way hard to get a slot, but if you work hard it is worth it. I don’t know about your house though, but it doesn’t hurt to try.” She said taking a seat, and munching on a roll, charms… who needed them anyway?

Sue was really starting to feel a bit better from the bad mood she had been in. Sometimes, when the full moon was closing in, she would either be in a great mood, or an awful one. Miranda explained to her how she might be able to talk to someone about getting on the quidditch team. Who was her head of house, anyway? Sue would have to ask around and find out. It probably wouldn't be too hard, she would just ask someone in the common room when she went back there next. No problem. There was a noise behind her, and Sue quickly turned to look. It was pure instinct. It turned out only to be a girl who had just fallen over someone's bag, and yelped. Susan let out a breath of relief. No danger here. She turned back to Miranda and remembered something. Hadn't she been in a hurry to get to a class? Yes. Sue was almost sure she had said something about not being late again. Guilt filtered through her body. If this sweet girl were to get into trouble because of her, she would feel really bad. "I'm sorry. Didn't you have somewhere you needed to be? I'm so sorry I've kept you, it wasn't fair of me. If you need to leave, I won't be offended." Sue looked down at the table.

She watched as sure jumped as another girl felt over a bag, Miranda just giggled at that. She thought it was funny, but she was the same way, a little bit of a klutz at times. Once she was tuck in a passageway for three hours… some Hogwarts secrets should stay hidden…
“Oh crap.” She said not angry at Sue, but she really did have to be on time, she wondered how much time she had before she had to run there. If only they could apperiate, even if she was old enough they don’t allow in on the grounds, allow it they make it impossible!
“Your, right, and don’t you worry… I have a tendency to find any excuse to get out of class.” She said with a large grin. “Well I will see you in class sometime then. I am sure around the grounds too. If ya eva want to scope out some hidden passageways, I am totally game on that, and so is my sister.” She released that she was running time again. She knew that she would have to run to class, but that was not anything new…
“Anyway, it was cool talking to you, see you around!” se said and had a serious look on her face, and a smile of a fun rush too. She started to run, she loved it, it was getting her heart pumping for so many reasons, going to be late, and feeling the air on her. She actually did not care at this point if she made it on time, but she sure was trying…

Sue watched as the nice girl she had just met ran off towards her class. She was hoping that she didn't cause Miranda to get into too much trouble. Sue would feel pretty bad if that was the case. Nonetheless, it was time for her to get up and leave as well. She needed to find a safe place to transform tomorrow night, and consult the potions master. It hopefully wouldn't be too much trouble for him or her, but it was very necessary if she didn't want to kill any innocent by standers. Sue stood, took her bag and walked out of the Great Hall with a smile. She made a new friend. That was what really mattered at the moment.
