Alejandro made sure he had everything set up well before the scheduled time for class to start. Not that there was much to do.
He had written on the chalkboard the following:
Do not be alarmed: your wands will be return to you after class.
Class Rules:
1) Unless otherwise specified, wands are to be forfeited before class. All wands will be returned to their owners after class.
2) Come on time; if not, come with a phenomenal explanation as to why you were late.
3) Get along. Your grade depends on it.
4) No stupid behavior will be tolerated, and will be punished accordingly. Act like adults.
5) Don’t give up. It’s hard, but you get credit for trying.
Class One – Rules; Get to know your professor
Class Two – Getting to know your teammates; what is Wandless Magic? (discussion)
Class Three – Wandless Magic in theory and practice
Class Four – Midterm
Class Five – Refining Wandless Magic skills
Class Six – Silent Spell casting with Wands
Class Seven – Silent Spell casting without Wands
Class Eight – Final Exam; Teammate evaluation forms due
Besides the previous, he had set up several charms: The first was to alert him when someone entered the classroom with a ringing noise that only he could hear. The second was a countdown clock set above the entrance to the classroom to automatically prevent any latecomers from entering with a painless, body-paralyzing field. And the third was to disarm the students of their wands and put it in a predetermined secret location until the class ended or he allowed it. With the assistance of Mayra, he tested each one, giving her his wand to try the last one; sure enough, the wand disappeared from her hand with a pop, and he found it in the location he had enchanted the wands to go.
His was a late afternoon class, so he and Mayra had already eaten brunch, and Mayra had chosen the activity books she was going to work on while her father taught; all that was left for them to do now was to wait for students to arrive. Not wanting to have to interact with his pupils any longer than necessary, he returned to his apartment -which was attached to the classroom- and closed the door, with the intention of getting some work done on his research project until it was time for class.
