There was never a dull moment between Tierney and Landon. Someone from the outside looking in may wonder how the two could remain friends after everything they’d been through. After all the fights and the drama, it would have been easy to call it quits by now. There were times that Landon could tell Tierney really wanted to hit him. And there were times when she actually did. Sometimes Landon wanted to kiss her until they couldn’t breathe. And then there were times that he wanted to push her off a cliff. But this is how they worked. Their relationship was spicier than most and Landon wouldn’t have it any other way. For every fight, slap, curse, and insult there were one million and one other thing that he loved about, that he couldn’t get enough of.
Landon was starting to realize that he had the tendency to open his mouth and just start talking without thinking whenever he was arguing with Tierney. Here he was, essentially calling her terrible friend when in reality she’d been quite the opposite. She’d saved his life in more ways than one and he’d be eternally in her debt. There wasn’t really ever a time that he felt that he couldn’t go to her if he really needed something. He hadn’t realized until now how much he’d been taking her for granted and he felt like an idiot for it.
“I guess I don’t have an example,” he mumbled, looking away from her. He was really tired of this argument, but frankly he had nothing to say anymore. There was nothing that he could really say that wouldn’t cause him to stick his foot further into his mouth. Her every word pulled on his heartstrings. “I would walk from Romania to Normandy and swim the English Channel to get back here if you needed me, Landon.” Landon could no longer deny that Tierney cared a lot about him, but how deeply he didn’t know. But it was at this moment that he was determined to be better for her, to give her everything that she’d given him and more. She had done so much for him, had given so much. The least he could do was so the same for her.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly. He sat back down on her bed with his arms crossed over his chest. How was he going to do this if she wasn’t sure that she wanted to talk to him? “Can we at least write to each other while you’re away or something? I want…I guess I just want to hear how everything is going…” And I don’t want to lose you… He would even write to her if she didn’t respond, just to let her know that he was here for whether she needed him or not.

The two of them were like a married couple. Well, like a 'typical' married couple according to all the stories Tierney had ever heard. They bickered and fought and yelled and screamed and occasionally Tierney slapped the boy around while he pretended to be tough and in charge. They were nothing like the married couple Lucian and Tierney would have made. Lucian would have definitely been in charge and Tierney would have been the one pretending he wasn't. Being a demon had its advantages for the guy.
“I guess I don’t have an example.”
She wanted to spat, 'Of course you don't', but Tierney was too tired of the fighting to bother. She sighed and let her shoulders slump as she sat staring at him from her seat on her luggage. Recently she was easily exhausted. It was all the stress. Getting married, not getting married, involved with Landon, not involved with Landon, involved with Landon. Besides, she was certain somehow he would have dredged up something, even if it was small. His admitted defeat told her he didn't want to fight either so why instigate?
He apologized and asked if they could write to each other. Tierney looked away from him for a moment then back and bit her lip. She wanted to write to him so badly, but she was afraid of influencing him. Maybe she was giving herself too much credit, thinking she was more important to him than she was. Who was she to have so much influence over him? Even if she was his best friend, that didn't mean her every word would cause him to make a decision based on it. Maybe now she was making excuses so she could write him. Shaking her head and letting out another heavy sigh she muttered, "Alright, yeah. Let's write. I can't guarantee I'll reply or if I do that it'll be decent letters. I don't know how busy I'll be. I mean if things don't go well when I break things off I could be in the middle of a war zone. You're welcome to write to me though and I will try to reply to the best of my ability."
She stood up and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and kissing his temple lightly. "I'll be back soon, hopefully single and happy like you want." She paused and looked back to her luggage with a bitter smile, "Now then, I have a taxi arriving shortly to take me to the train station. Could you be a dear and help me bring my bags down to the foyer so it's a quick getaway? The sooner I leave the quicker I can be back... I hope."

“Thank you. And I will write. I promise.” The moment that Landon had been dreading was finally here and he didn’t know how to act. He felt as if he wanted to start writing his first letter to Tierney the moment she walked out the door. He was going to miss her terribly and it was going to hurt to watch her go. His heart ached that she was leaving but he was so excited that she was going to come back free of Lucian’s hold, free of this stupid engagement. Whether he ended up with her or not, he wanted her to come back and be able to live her life on her own terms, and to be happy. She deserved it. But without her here, he had no one. He wasn’t talking to his sister, Victoria was useless, and his few (shallow) guy friends were useless as well.
Landon’s eyes fell closed as Tierney hugged and kissed him. He took in her scent one last time and tried to lock it away in his memory with all his memories of their times together. “You better,” he said as he grabbed two of her biggest bags to carry them downstairs. He could’ve magicked them to float downstairs, or made them pocket size, but he really wanted to carry them for her. The closer they got to the foyer the louder her could hear his heart beating in his ears. He could feel himself starting to get just a little emotional but he couldn’t let it show. Vulnerability and sensitivity weren’t really his style.
After he placed her bags down in front of the door, he turned to her and gave her a playful shove. “I’m gonna miss your ass.” He would more than miss her, but that was all she needed to know right now. He grinned then wrapped her up into another hug. He squeezed tightly, never wanting to let go, leaning in to kiss her cheek. Instead the kiss fell on the corner of her mouth. His lips had other plans. “Come back soon.” He gave her one final squeeze before letting her go and opening the front door for the taxi driver to get her bags and put them in the trunk.

"Yeah, well, after all that fuss you better." Tierney gave him a lopsided grin and picked up some of her suitcases. Her stomach was suddenly knotted severely and she felt exceptionally nervous.
She watched in amazement as Landon actually helped her with her last two suitcases. He carried them full size and everything right down to the foyer with her. It gave her a warm feeling all over seeing him act like such a gentleman. She didn't mind the fact that he wasn't a perfect gentleman, that he was a little rough around the edges. In fact, she loved that about him because she was far from a perfect lady. She just liked seeing him try occasionally. It meant a lot. It meant he cared and wanted to be perfect.
The slightly rough Landon made his appearance again as they got to the door and Landon put down the bags he carried to shove her lightly. She gently kicked at him without actually making contact since her hands were full and she could see the black cab in the drive outside so she didn't want to put her luggage down to pick it up again. "I don't blame you. My ass is sexy. At least you'll get a good last view of it as I walk out the door, right?" She joked, cracking a weak smile as the nerves magnified.
She was really leaving. She was really going back to Romania and she had to break things off with Lucian. She was excited, but apprehensive. So many things could go wrong... no, it was best she didn't think about that. she needed to stay positive instead. Landon enveloped her in another hug and she did her best to hug him back. When his kiss met the corner of her mouth she felt herself blush - a fairly rare occurrence for her. "I'll try. I'll probably be back before you know it, before you even have a chance to miss me."
She smiled a little stronger and stepped back as he opened the door and the taxi driver walked up and took her other bags. She followed him back out to the boot of the cab and helped him put her things inside. She looked back to the door and waved to Landon before climbing into the back seat through the door the cabbie held open. He shut the door once she was situated and went to the front seat, starting the engine. As the car pulled down the drive she looked back and covertly blew a kiss toward the mansion and the insufferable, but lovable boy inside it.
Merlin, she was going to miss him.
